Too hard on boots to pay high dollar? Why not spend like 30 or 40 bucks more and get a fairly decent pair. They will last longer, trust me. I thought the exact same thing as you. Plus the ones im talkin about aren't even the top dollar ones. The top dollar ones are like $200+. I have a pair of Dakota's with that weird ass Duratec thing on the front. Works really good and i am really hard on my boots. They go through gravel, mud, snow, water, mass amounts of metal, and whatnot. They work great for me:) And if your feet hurt from lugging around a heavy pair of Steel toe boots just get a pair of the shoe type. |

Get those Dr. Scholls Gel steps or whatever they're called.:dunno:
How long are you wearing these boots? I used to go through a pair every 6 months. |

i had a pair of snap on boots that lasted over a year...dr.scholl insole for the full year also....and they were strong! an electric forklift drove over one of the boots 3-4 times....and i dropped 20+ transmissions on them....couple scratches but still fine!
but nothing beats throwin those boots out and getting an office job...thats right bitches i wear sandals to work :D |

Dakotas are great, well priced boots.
Ive had cat($200+) and they were shiet, traded them back for the dakotas.
Cheaping out on footwear is foolish, considering you wear them all day. |

I have a pair of Dakota composite toe boots with a rough material over the toe. Had them for about 2 years now and they barely look used. I've quadded, ridden motorcycles, climbed mountains, hiked through forests and paintballed with them. The only thing wrong is the laces are finally starting to fray.
Soon I'll be buying these cause when I work now I have to be able to get my boots on fast, and laces suck for that.

dont cheap out on foot wear, esspicially steel toe boots. Your gonna be wearing them all day long and trust me you want a decent to good pair.
I ussually spend between $140-200 for a decent pair.
Dakota's and JB Goodhue are two fairly cheap and pretty comfortable boots, both are pretty durable too. |

| Bar none the best boots you could buy are RedWing. Expensive but you'll never go back. Awesome warrenty, life time laces, life time stitching, the absolut BEST. If they were 500$ I'd pay it, it's like wearing slippers to work. I've still got my first pair and they are almost 10 years old, I've had them re built a couple time but well worth it. Budget for around 250$, you only have one pair of feet, make them happy. |

Original Swat, yeah their the shit, I have them, and they come with a gel type insole.
Either Milarm or direct from Original Swat. I had 13W on order for the longest time through Milarm, I ended up dropping that order and getting them from Original Swat directly, cost the same and even though I asked for USPS they shipped them up by FedEx.... got them really fast.. still gotta pay fedex the $6 border fees heh.
So far my only complaint is the leather toe area scratches easy, I'm gonna hit them with some parade gloss polish tonight and see if I can get them looking purdy again.
I used to wear mark 3 comabt boot(not steel toe or anything) those boots kicked ass, I beat the living crap outta them, and they lasted 9 years, well the sole was bald after about 7 years, I didn't resole them, and just recently I wore holes in the leather. I still have them. The thing I loved the most was no matter how shitty the looked(I had the black worn off the whole fronts) with about 15min time and a little effort you could get them looking purdy and shiney again |

Noah was the one to bring them in for Milarm originally and now he works over at Drop Zone.
I was hoping that site would have alot of good stuff, but there is nothing there that interests me.
We need a store like this in Edmonton. |

Milarm has that type of stuff, but you gotta go to the store for it.

Work pretty good, just tore the leather outter recently.. DOH!!

Sorry off topic.... |

Hey do you know what Noah's last name is? I wonder if it is the same guy I knew from 'Spike Camp' and I think it was the 'Survival Store' or something like that on 99st. (closed now). I wana say his last name was Walt but hell I don't remember. Good guy:thumbup: |

Terras are very nice too. I had Dakotas, and they wore out in less than a season, and my Terrra's are goin on two. Way more comfortable and waterproof too. BUT, with boots, though more expensive often menas generally more comfort, FIT is the most important thing.
Also, being too hard on boots is reason to spend more, I wuld think. |

I do believe Noah's last name is Walt. He did have a survival outfitter many years ago and has a few business ventures since then, but he is working Drop Zone and spending the other half of his life holding training seminars.
He is a very good guy, he always seems to go that extra mile for you when you need something specific. |

Have you been here yet: http://www.p-d-ent.com/
P&D Enterprises is one of the newest and nicest place to get all your "neat stuff" at.
They have a selection of Magnum boots and other brands, not sure what they have in stock, I haven't been in there for the past 4 months.
I have also found Swat Boots at the Shoe Warehouse on 170st in the west end, they were on sale there for about $125, but that was 3 years ago, I'm not sure if they still stock them anymore. |

| I wear Danners but they don't have a steel toe....they are very comfy but the downside is the price.....$275 to $315ish. |

I used to wear Magnums at work all the time. A good comfy, solid boot, but it wore out after a year and a half of 45+ hours a week.
Now I'm on my favorite pair ever: Oakley Gatlings.

those shoes are insanely expensive... well, not really, but do you actually change out of them every day and such when you go to work and drive home? i picked up a pair of CATS and they look almost like runners. i can drive with them and all and i wont get lead foot syndrome with them. i tried a pair similar design to those gatlings and it was hard to control my foot on the pedal, then again i was just too lazy to change out of them every time i went out for lunch or home |

The Oakleys? I usually only wear them at work, but they do fit in the pedalbox of my car so I can wear them home.
200 bucks for a pair of work boots isn't that bad, considering you can write it off on taxes. I have a nice pair of Reebok runners for everyday use. |

| Thanks for all the responses guys, i figured i'd get some good answers here. The reason i don't wanna spend much is because my company will replace them when i've destroyed my current pair. I don't know their budget for that, but i doubt its 200, so i figured i'd just get a decent insole to switch from pair to pair. Then the reason i'm so hard on them is I weld galvinised pipe for a living, and theirs twice the heat and splatter then pretty much any other type of welding. I've had my boots for around 5 months now and there's not much left to the bottom, all melted off from steping on hot balls of steel...not to mention the ones that went in the boot, owch...i'll try the gel insoles, won't hurt... |

Where did you find those boots?
I've been trying to find someone in town who has/ can get me a pair of black Oakley "Casing"
I've just ordered a set of Salamon Revo GCS GTX bla bla bla boots to see if they are comfy or not from MEC:

They came highly rated and should be in in about a week or two. |
