Homicide rate better than last year - Click HERE for Original Thread

SilverZ24
9 murders in Edmonton so far in 2006. That is half of what we had last year at this time and two less than Calgary has.

Lots of people here were complaining about Edmonton last here in this thread .

What do people think about this years numbers? Are things really better than last year? Or is it just a calm before the storm?

well 9 confirmed murders...we still have two missing Edm women
But it's not just the murder rate that should decide if we've gotten any better...let's not forget about all the stabbings/shootings/fights, car accidents and theft...mentioned in the paper everyday! (people don't necessarily have to die for it still to be a crime)
Bottom line...more than just some people behave like complete idiots!

Good point. It's the same act, just not as effective...... to put it in a really morbid way.

But this is a good sign, no matter how you look at it. Half the dead people on your hands as usual is promising.

oh lovely...another man gunned down this weekend. Great pic of the body in today's Sun (classy)

That officially makes 10 murders and one missing woman

The real world isn't exactly classy.

Its because there are a couple guys in jail/dead now that were gangbanging last year lol, seriously though.

The real question is - how long until Chief Boyd takes all the credit for the big reduction?

I'd be curious to see the total number of Alberta murders - for all we know, the number of murders province wide is similar to last year because the police are just pushing the gangs out of the city to commit their murders (Such as Hobbema).

gangs vs. gangs......

I fail to see a problem with that. It's their killing of innocent people that's wrong.

ya think is just gang warfare:mad:
