Whats up everyone ... just joined the site and thought I could get some input fromt he scene.
I live in Vancouver, Canada and I am bringing in a '91 Skyline R32 GST-T in the fall.
I've been doing some local research and net research so that I can plan out my project car.
I've found some good local help and some net sites to supply gear / ideas from but I was wondering if the scene on this site can help out a little.
First, what kinda work would a body shop be looking at to fit on a front and read kit from R33?? Do-able or not?? Anyone got some links for some sweet R32 body kits??
Second, 500HP ... realisitc or not?? I'm looking for at least 400HP at the wheels but would really like 500ish. It'll be mostly a street car with occasional trips to the local track; until I get more into and comfortable with the car.
I figure on the first mods to be swapping out the stock turbo for a large Garrett blower (GT35), full rebuild and upgrade to the intercooler and intake system, manifold upgrade and full exhaust system upgrade. Think that should put me up around 400 - 500ish??
Any other upgrade suggestions??
Last, looking at building a show class car ... any tips on how to start getting into the show scene and sponsorship??
Thanks for the help ... looking forware to posting some pix in the up coming monthes |

if it were me the kit i would get is the bnsports kit, but it pretty damn expensive, so maybe a replica, or if you can get sponsored before you buy it that would make sense, if your going to put as much money into it as it sounds you might as well drop in a rb25 right away, they have mroe aftermarket support, and will get you to your desired hp number with less headache,
a 500 wheel hp streetcar is not really a great idea, if you do not have the money for a daily driver your projectt seems a bit ambitious, if you can land a good sponsor than thats a different story but 500 hp is not really necessary for a show car, if you are just gonna show car it then an rb26 with front mount will get u bvest show points bang for buck over a 500 hp rb20 which still looks like an rb20 and probably cost more, but thats jist me, good luck |

Sounds like you have alot of money, all this shit adds up like you wouldn't believe.
If you have this much money, why didn't you buy a GTR?
Blower? thats a supercharger. Turbo, snail, hairdryer, and many others.
400-500hp out of a RB20 would be pushing it.
A engine swap would be a good idea. When looking for those sorts of number, engine managment becomes a big factor. So also look at getting a full standalone along with someone who can dyno tune it for you. |

GTR is just an expensive version of the skyline, it would be best to get a gts-t with a rb20 or rb25 swap and build it up from there rather than buy$$$ the GTR name and end up with a stock one when you want to build some serious power on a budget |

| id swap in a rb26dett and build tht up.The best body kit ive ever seen for a skyline is the TBO kit but ull need a lot of luck finding tht an definitly dont go with an rb20 for ur big hp dreams plus id spend money on just getting a nice gt-r |

| 400-500 streetable HP out of a RB20DET is not pushing it, its IMPOSSIBLE |
|
|
| maybe |
| If you dont want the GTR and its AWD, why not just get a pre 91 silvia or 180 and swap a rb25 in it? Can prob get some pretty good deals on those silvias due too everyone wanting an SR |

I'snt a RB24 a RB20 head and RB26 bottom end? Show me a RB20 (2.0) that can put out that kind of power. Those kind of engine builds might be economically feasible in Japan or even Austrailia, but if he wants 400-500HP hes WAY better off building up a RB25 or 26.
Also, I could only imagine what a RB20 with a f*ing T04R would be like to drive on the street.
SELL YOUR RB20DET to someone with a 240SX and buy a RB25DET/RB26DET. You'll be way happier with the final result and you'll have a more reliable/streetable car. |

RB24 is an RB20 with RB26 crank and oversized pistons.
It's very doable but the breathing of the RB20 head is a limiting factor. RB25 is much better. |

ACTUALLY... 400HP is very obtainable and still VERY streetable in a rb20. Any of you dont think so just ask for a ride in mine.
RB20, garret gt28/71RS turbo, hks manifold, front mount, injectors and ecu tunning. just today we dyno'ed, and best run was 386 rwhp and 330 tq. at 20lbs boost. if caluculate a 15% drive train loss, that equals about 440 at the crank!
car gets 28 mpg hyway. 20 combined hwy/city and other than the light flywheel idles like as if it were stock.
its all about the right package of parts to build up your engine. just think about it, if with the correct turbos an rb26 can make 800 plus why would an rb20 not be able to make 400 plus???
rb20's are way over looked engine. I love rb20's
fast, reliable, and good fuel milage. what more could you possibly want? |

| ya how much did tht cost u if u want 500 hp out of a RB26 its been done more there is a larger base of knowledge |

no thats not really true. just the people in canada feel that way cause they all think bigger is better! keep in mind one has to spend the money to swap in an rb26 first then start modding it. Just the swap alone at most shops would cost a few thousand dollars. special mounts, rb25 trans, etc. then you need two turbos instead on one... reallisticly to build a hp number in the 4-500 range im quite certain it would be finished cheaper with the smaller rb20. but bigger is better so more power to ya. but he wants to build a show car so engine swaps are better points so why stop at 500hp go straght fo the rb30 with a stoke kit and build a 3.2 or 3.4ltr 2bar 1400hp monster. everyone else seems to think it will be cheap...
good lluck with your build up. rb's rule:thumbup: |
