Place to live in Fort Mac - Click HERE for Original Thread

Potentially going there for work. Can you suggest a place to live?
Dont want to bunk with 6 other guys. What is reasonable? $1500 a month for a small suite? More? PM me please.

TylerH
I was paying $2100/mo when I was up there for a 2 bedroom.

REDX2NV
I pay $1430 a month here in the crack towers..

Its ghetto, but i spend most my life working anyways. With rent@0% avaliablity, you better have some stellar luck on your hands.

Check out Ft mcmurray today@ www.fortmcmurraytoday.com

You might be better of renting a room.

My buddy had a room or two left in his house that he just bought when I spoke with him last week. If you're interested I can check with him to see what's available.

bigbadboss101
Yeah please do.

If I do go up, it would be working with Suncor. Therefore, a place close to bus that takes me there would be ideal.

Also, internet access, non-smoking would be great.

Definitely not into a party house or drugs.

Looked into FM today and saw some possible rooms for rent.

Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks.

my father in law works at suncor may also have a room

Thanks guys.

To keep me entertained, probably would like to find a gym that is close by, and some interesting shops :-)

This is Fort Mac your talking about. There is absolutely nothing interesting in that town except for showgirls (which has the nastiest chicks ever). There is a gym downtown you can go to and thats about it. I did the Suncor thing for 2.5 years and had to leave that town. It was driving me insane plus I didn't get to drive my car much because it was in Edmonton. I'm also assuming that you are not going to be a commuter on your 6 days off back to Calgary?

I figure I will give it a try for 6 months. I have an 00 ITR in Calgary
and might sell it. Work is basically 5 days, 8 hours, may be some OT. On the weekend I might fly home every couple weeks. Will see. I haven't signed the contract yet.

Hey any grappling school there? Or full contact martial art places?
Too much to ask for? ;-)

crazyrx7
You get sick of flying back just for 1.5 days off. I would just relocate to the Mac and be done with it. I'm assuming that you are a contractor to/at suncor and not a Suncor employee.

Haha I would think thats too much to ask for, I didn't see any up there. There are 2 gyms (I went to the one near the supermarket, in the basement). I liked the days away from that place, any time at all, even when I bused back.

bigbadboss101
I was gonna just fly up, and bus everywhere. Is that feasible? A guy told me it's good idea to have a car there. I don't want to take my ITR though.

TylerH
Bus? I dunno about that...you can walk though. I say buy a beater for up there, you'll be making enough cash and it's really nice to have a set of wheels up there.

I drive up ever 6 days, but I'm lucky I stay with my parents...:blue:

I have been doing it for the last 4 mths & it hasn't been to bad.

But I live in Ft mac for 15 years, I had to get out.

d.maczko
yep, nuff said ft mac sucks unless you love your money

i used to live there for 16 years, then i finally got out and came here. much better.

there is nothing to do there on your days off but drink and party, gets kinda boring after every cycle.

good luck

bigbadboss101
Well I will there this Sunday. Gonna go find a grocery store and a gym probably the first couple nights. Renting a car until I drive mine up or find one there.

Anybody live up there are want to play ball hockey or softball etc?
ultimate frisbee or soccer or football?
