I know it's kind of late notice, but I was wondering if anybody wants to have a mid-month social this upcoming Sunday. It was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but being Father's day it just didn't happen. Any ideas?

Maybe a little less play time and a lil more work time and your car would be running.;) |

my thoughts exactly
jason u are slacking ..
finishing the basement all i got right now is concrete walls
i was thinking of just painting the concrete wann know what i can do with $1500 need to install two electrical plugs and taht is pretty much it ..it goona be a open concept so hardly any walls to make rooms out of it ( one big room) jsut some place to hang out, play foosball get eye poked out by a dart and watch movies
and also store car parts and garage stuff |

| You can do the electrical for pretty cheap if you only want two plugs. All you need is 2 boxes, 2 oulets, vapor hats and enough wire to get back to the panel or to a junction box with an available circuit. You should probably frame the outside walls of the basement. Then insulate them. The money you would save on heating costs would be worth it. Then run the electrical and throw some drywall up. done deal. Maybe a drop ceiling if you're ambitious. |

| i live in town house so the sides are sahared walls but i think i will insulate so sound don't travel |

| for ceiling i was gonna go with tiled cieling it eas y for running speaker wires and mounting projector |

| The most expensive part will be the lumber and drywall, depending on the sq. footage. Not too huge of a project in any case. |

| no i did not get a house ... i heard instead of using wood i can use metal brackets |
|

| Yes, you can use metal framework. It's mostly a preference thing, although it can be easier to work with. Just cut the peices with Tin Snips and fasten together. Not something you could use as a weight bearing structure, but it's good for finishing the walls. I don't know what kind of pricing it would be though, with metal prices what they are. |

dont use metal in the basement ground moisture makes them rust in time, and all wiring in the metal walls has to be bx wire.
which is more money and a pain to run! |

even galvanized steel or aluminin brackets
yeah i won't do anything yet just gonna see what the first month bills are like |

Now is right, Don't use metal. It's NOT easier than wood. the electrical plugs twist the studs when you put the drywall up, it's a pain to cut with tin snips, a chop saw works better, drywall is a pain to screw into it.
As for the mid-month, I'm up for it. I need to renew anyway... |
