91 accord exr questions - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ayeso
Hey guys, Im not a big accord guy, but im a big honda person,. I've owned about 6, mostly civics, my ef just got stolen so im a little bummed about that. Anyway, Im driving my dads 91 accord exr, but heres the thing it has ALOT of issues. I think im going to just swap the engine, as there is so much wrong and so high mileage its not even worth fixing really.

It needs:

new 02 sensor
new throttle cable ( the one for an auto tranny )
new vehicle speed sensor
new water pump and timing belt
new gaskets basically everywhere

My dad never has done any maint. not even timing belt or anything and hes had the car since 180,000kms and its over 350 now.

What kind of swaps are available for an auto 91 exr, im assuming any H or F series? so h22, h23, f20b or just another stock f22?

Anyone know of prices on local engines, like just a replacement f22 even? I know an h22 is around 2500 from jdmsource.

replacement F22 engines are dirt cheap, but are usually high km engines. an H22 or H23 is the best choice for a swap cause their the only ones worth doing. the problem with those swaps is wiring is going to be a nightmare.

What kind of wiring problems?

I've done obd2 - obd1 before, and ive done dpfi - mpfi + vtec

Anyone know the price of a h23 or h22 locally?

wiring up an engine like that probably requires more then a conversion harness or something like that. youll more then likely have to repin everything on the engine harness, and on top of that you might have to buy a conversion harness(doubt it if its all OBD1). its something left to the more expierenced to explain cause when it comes to engine swaps, i know little to none about stuff like that

meh i doubt it, it should jsut be a few minor things like vtec wiring, and obd conversion. I've done many swaps, just none in accords. ive done 99civic si engines(obd2 vtec) into 90 ef's (obd0 nonvtec)

BUT ill see what my dad wants done...

LOL j/k

Anyways: depends on what your goals are.

1) Turbo= H23 or F23
2) N/A= H22
3) Just a daily driver= another f22

In order of cost from lowest to highest
1) F22
2) H23 or F23
3) H22

All Tranny from these engine are interchangeable, yet I would swap tranny while you at it.
