the calgary rx7 community are always wishing that they had
a club to call their own and have good turnouts to social
events.
here in edmonton there is a club but no one seems to
want to bother showing up once a month to socialize.
wtf is with that!
looking forward to any kind of reply, but starting to think
even a reply might be to much bother.

there are already varied benefits for joining the club and fact to socialize with aother people of similar interest and to do events.
like if tuesday is problem and u would liek to do it on diffrent day voice taht opinion |

I have oftened wondered why no one from the club ever shows up at United Cycle on Friday nights. I'm almost always there as long as I don't need to baby sit the baby while my wife works and I'm usually the only rx-7 there. For me the first Tuesday of every month doesn't always work out for me where as Fridays are usually my days out with the car. The other problem we have is that half the time the rx7's aren't running and no body can make it out. Other people with fd's don't even show up because they are worried about having damage caused to their cars. I don't know what else to say Matt.
On top of that the rx7's are pretty beat up and I will be honest; look like shit. Even the civic guys put more time and effort into their cars. I know I will be flamed for what I said and maybe even be alienated but its the truth. The jdm ones are in better condition than the ones here.

Sorry to hear that club turn out at meetings is falling. Z Club participation has dipped as well, but not nearly as bad. We have been gaining a few new members recently, slowly but surely. But we have a long ways to go to get anywhere near our peak again. |

I wish I could make it out, but simple fact of the matter is my car has a long ways to go... And im not really the type of person who loves to socialize lol. I'll hopefully start making it out as soon as my car is done, I would feel too stupid showing up in a truck claiming to have a RX.
To be honest I would have been working at park mazda (as a service tech), but they apparently they weren't hiring so I went else where. But if I was working there it sure would have been perfect... |

I work nights all week, so pretty much anything is out unless people want to start meeting at about 3 am... On the upside Rahul, I'll be renewing my membership on the 15th at the auto X, so we'll have one more member then...
As for United Cycle, CrazyRX7 speaks for me. Sure my FC is fun, Yup, even though it's NA, it goes pretty good, but it looks more than a bit rough. I've figured it out... I need at least 3 grand in pure cosmetics to make it not an embarrassment, let alone worth showing off. I can use that money WAY better making it faster. Dunno if I'm like other RX7 guys, but I've always made fun of the "all show, no go" guys. I'd rather be an "all go, no show" person. Only after I've got a car that's worth bragging about will I get into the body. |

in light of recent comments .. i would like to give try to us having our meeting friday on 7 at park mazda.. and then after those who like can cruise to UC and others can cruise home.
when the RX7 pull in together the shear number will be in amazement let alone the cosmetic beauty of the car.
When i joined the club that is how it was the FC were not hot looking "FNF" type cars but the fact that we pulled in together the shear volume of rotaries. it made it quite fun. |

| I agree with Rahul. Although I've never seen a mass gathering of Rotaries, the club is about the the car in general, and i think especially about the powerplant. You don't need a tasteful looking car or a riced out car to show up. |

i dunno rad ive put lots of time and effort and countless dollars into my car
im willing to say mine is better looking than 80% of the JDM FCs here
and not jus mine....terrys FC is in immaculate condition and rahuls FC is beautiful......

and actually the other thing we could do besides the monthly meetings on friday and UC is,
for EVERY FRIDAY any rx7 club members that want to go out to UC we could meet somewhere close to United Cycle, like at Capilano Mall or Bonnie Doon Mall and then we all cruise to UC...
...we could all meet at like 8:30 or something... wait until like 8:45 or something then whoever shows we can head er to UC...

Thats nice but I never see you guys at UC at all. I saw Terry once in his rx-7. Rahul has been coming out more now.

Hey guys. Sorry I missed the last meeting. I had other plans that evening.
As for meet and rides and the whole United Cycle scene. I am really not interested. The same goes for the cruises. If there was a guarantee that everyone would behave and drive like civil human beings I would come out. But the attitudes and general feelings of any of these meets don't really turn my crank.
That being said. I did enjoy the SCC event last year though but I wouldn't say that is your typical UC night.
I do enjoy hanging out, having dinner and talking about the cars and stuff going on with them. I'll try to make it to as many social events as I can.
I think the meetings need to be revamped. Again revisit the idea of making the meetings lighter with little or NO business talk. I think it would be best to leave that to the admin board and leave the talk about cars to a monthly social / meeting at a restraunt etc.
Anyways... those are my thoughts.
Catch you at the next social if I can make it. I won't be out at the Namao events. Too much temptation to be driving. My Celica is finally fixed and I don't want to break anything =) (I really can't afford to put any more money into my cars) *Anyone want to buy a couple of FCs? lol
