Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem, thx

When "heel toeing" you don't nessicarly need to use your heel and your toe. Having big feet and driving a miata its impossible for me to heel-toe, so you use the sides of your foot to essentially heel-toe. Left side of ur foot on the brake and right side on the gas.:)

thx for the reply, i guess it just sucks that my knees keep hitting the steering wheel when i try to move my feet up enough to hit the gas pedal lol, thats what i get for having a base modal with no tilt:(

get an aftermarket wheel then. First thing I did to my miata when I bought it was remove the stock steering wheel and replace it with a nice Grant GT. My knees also used to hit the wheel.

since the gas petal is so much lower i usualy don't heel toe

but i can when i wear my mocasins (they're like a slipper that i wear outside even though i shouldn't)

they are really flexible so you can reach with half of your foot and hold with the other half...

it's sort of difficult to explain....

double post...

ya i guess aftermarket steering wheel would help with my clearence issue, and i might if i deside to keep it but kinda looking at getting rid of it, maybe get a 240 (lol not for drifting though) and build it for track racing

You shouldn't be moving your feet up to heel and toe at all.

Try this (when you're parked, not driving). Put your heel on the floor halfway between the brake and gas. Now, swing the top half of your foot onto the brake, so you'll be pressing the brake pedal with your toes and maybe the ball of your foot. Push down on the brake pedal hard.

Now, holding the top half of your foot on the brake pedal, swing the bottom half of your foot over onto the gas pedal. If you have your heel over the gas pedal, push down with your heel on the gas pedal. If your foot is beside the gas pedal, roll your foot slightly to the right, and hit the gas with the outside of your foot.

That's how you should be heel and toeing.

I find in my Neon I can only heel-and-toe when I'm really hard on the brakes (like in racing). If I'm driving in the city, I don't hit the brakes hard enough to do it. But then again, in city driving you really don't have any need to heel-and-toe anyways.

I used to heel toe all the time in my 86 Prelude, my 84 F-150 and my 93 C1500. My neon on the other hand.... I can do it but the gas is just to far down to do it effectively.

seems like its kinda hard to do on a neon then because of the gas pedal being lower, lol i wasnt sure if i was just doing something wrong or not cuz the only other manual car i have driven was the car i drove for my licence test which happend to be a neon as well, the rest have all been auto... maybe ill just get a different car, something i can build for the track before i worry to much about heel toeing, meh im in no rush n e way

If the gas pedal is too far down, then go to JB's or Crappy Tire and get one of those cheesy racing pedal sets and only install the gas pedal over top of your stock one. Then it should be high enough.

jdmguy
haha actually i work there and i got some for free but the ones we had didnt fit so w/e i dont care n e more lol, at least not untill i get a half decent car or decide to mod this one(which i wont)
