Tiburon

TCB007
So who is representing in Edmonton this year? :)

Blaine B.
That website sucks, I need a phone # to a human being who can answer questions about Vendor registration. The contact form on the site is fucked. I don't see a phone # anywhere either.

TCB007
Thank you for your comments. I have PM'ed you with a number you can reach me at or, if you prefer, you can leave me with yours and I will call you :) btw, I just tested the contact us form and it seems to be working as intended - what problems did you have with it?

I would type text into the contact form and it would not show up at all but the cursor would move. I filled out the form and tried to submit, then it would tell me to fill in the form again.

TCB007
Due to your feedback, we have now simplified the Contact Us section. Please just e-mail edmonton@driventoperform.ca with any questions or comments and we would be happy to assist you. Thanks!!

I think they need to separate true "SHOW" cars from the daily driven cars. Personaly I don't think "SHOW" cars should have cracked windshields... or chipped paint.
And howcome everyone had their license plates on? Jesus, it's like 4 screws, that takes a minute and a half to take off. I think cars look better showing off without a plate.

Um, what else... DTP needs more sponsors. More big name companies, etc etc

WTF is with paying 7 bucks for parking (I know its not DTP's fault) but then ALSO paying 12 bucks entry... so 20 bucks later I get to LOOK at a car? Pffff!

i agree for the most part..but you take the daily driven cars away and you have no show pretty much. im showing my car, it has some rock chips on the front but its not built for a show its built to drive and im not gunna pay 1200 bucks to repaint the front for a 8 hour show that doesnt make me any money.

Flex
Personally I would rather see nice daily driven cars the trailor queens...cars are meant to be used.

On the same note with drag racing....to me its more impressive to see a fast daily driven car on the track then a straight drag car trailored in for the event.

PlungerOfDeath
So I'm guessing the show isn't worth the money?

flatboy
I think for alot of us we see these cars quite often, not once a week or anything but you know what I mean. A few I never seen but I thought it would have been bigger too.
And whats with the hot rods and chevy trucks? Driven to preform sure but I'm going to the MainStreet Cruisers Sunday at Millwoods Town center to see hot rods.

Yes, alot of the DD cars where nice. But i'm sure 1/2 or more of the cars there, where stock cars, with rims. Yes, g35's, skylines, nsx, they're all great looking cars. But they're nothing super special. None of the hoods where open. I even saw one car there with nothing but a decal on it. No rims, just tint and a decal. Hood closed on many of them. Whats the point of bringing them in? If i want to see the some cars with rims, i'll go for a drive. They could have atleast popped their hoods.

Uc meets are nicer most of the time. Only we dont get soo many girls wearing barely any clothes, that should have been wearing more clothes. Alot more clothes some of them.

In fact, immediately to the left of the entrance in the Macguyver's booth.

Sounds like another succesful Edmonton car show. I'm glad I stayed home and did nothing instead.

To the original poster:
DRIVEN to Perform. Show queen's aren't driven. Driven cars aren't perfect.
I enjoyed the show both from a spectators point of view and as a sponsor.
I do have a couple of questions as to how the judging was performed. One winner in particular, no disrespect to the owner because I KNOW how well done the car is, didn't have his hood, doors, trunk, windows open, yet still one best XXXXX. Meanwhile a very similar car with very similar mods done to a very high standard as well was completely open to the public eye for the duration of the show. Hood, trunk, windows etc.
According to the rules I read and followed the winning vehicle won best in catagory soley on the merits of it's paint/wheels.

Again, no offence to the owner of the winning car, I know what's under the hood and inside the cabin and it is very well done. But how could the judges know that if the hood was never popped and the windows/doors were never open?

It was better than calgary show

but the judging wasn't good

like, i know jays in my club and everything but he should of won something for his soarer, it was fucking soo clean, and one of the only few in canada.

like some reconition should of gone out to it

and best in car entertainment, like DAMN anyone see the visions cars? or the certified radio 3000GT convertable, that thing is crazy! also the G35 sedan done up in like all FOCAl was amazing, like why didn't that win?

shawley
o yea and WHY DID THIS CAR NOT WIN ANYTHING?

1997 Fiat from Europe! it's fucking soooo nice, and some good stuff done to it

but it was stuck in the corrner, but it's the only one in canada,

The way it is legaly here is he lives in europe but is over here working for 2 years and brought it with him for the time being

i was very dissapointed in the show.
drove from red deer, paid 7 bucks for parking, 12 bucks for me, 12 for my wife, and spent a total of maybe 35-40 minutes in the show.

there were hardly any cars there, even fewer that were worth paying to see. the fiat being the only one that really caught my eye, it's a slick looking ride and i would have liked to have seen under the hood.

the entertainment was bland to say the least, i guess they got my money though, and that's all that really matters. but i don't think i'll be going out of my way to attend any more of those shows.

i should have stayed home and went to a UFC party instead.
:(

Blaine, i'm going to presume that was james stupid fast rabbit there, and a white talon. Neither with their hoods open. Rabbits are not the prettiest cars, and if its on the way to becoming the fastest import in western canada or w/e, you could have atleast opened the hood. Same with the talon, it had lambo doors, rims, and big brakes in the front. Interior was stock, hood was closed. I dont get it :(

superspeed
i thot the top fuel itr should of won that one..

don't worry the ufc fights were kinda lame this time around, car show wasn't as good as it coulda been. and as most ppl said i see those cars often, yes there were a few nice cars and was kool to see but we need to think of a away of making this show better instead of saying how crappy it was and how i'm not goin to it next year or w/e. its never gunna get anybetter with that state of mind. we need to work on getting more sponsors and more ppl than from just around edmonton and cowtown

I went there and at about 3ish, blaine was there, and both the hood on the talon, and the rabbit where closed... Maby i walked by at a bad time or something.

92_WhItE_H23
the show was ...OK i suppose...

the judging was astonishing..

i cant believe a civic took best jdm lol

a mildly modded Celica took best toyota over the import scenes most popular and sought after Toyota Supra TT. like wow i couldnt believe that one but i guess hey if you buy a booth you win trophies not how good your car is.

personally there were some other cars there that deserved atleast an honorable mention. It wasnt easy getting a REAL Saleen mustang in there and it wasnt even mentioned in the awards. Theres absolutely no motivation for any of these nice cars to return the next year..

SilviaDrifter
trhis thread needs more pics haha

Cody D
I had fun, my friends Integra and my NSX were both in the show. The reason I didn't leave my hood open was because I wasn't around the show all day and too many people were messing with the cars that did have hoods open. One of my buddies came back to his car to find people sitting in it, and coffee spilled all over the front bumper.

I met some very interesting people and saw some great cars, the cars that won trophies weren't really my style of car, but I completely understand that at most shows it's about how much stuff you can pile into your car, not necessarily how good it looks.

Thanks a lot to Garage Works for all their hard work, but where's my shirt :D.

Must have been a bad time that you walked by because I was there twice both of which the hood of the rabit was open. We asked Blaine to pop the hood on the Talon and he did, there was nothing special there.

DSM
I didn't mind the show, but if we stop support thing like this pretty soon we wont have anything. I mean we did have JB's battle of the imports but lack of support cause that to be no more and now we are left with one drag event in Edmonton for imports.

vr6T
The hood on the rabbit never shut for one second on saturday! Not sure if you were looking at the wrong car, but I guarantee it was never shut the entire day on saturday.

That happened in our booth. We found a guy that had apparently helped himself to sitting in the yellow Z32. I did a double-take when I saw him and was like WTF? I leaned over from where I was sitting trying to see if the owner (Don) was with the guy, maybe sitting in the passenger seat. He wasn't, and in fact was nowhere close to our booth at the time. One of our members got him out of the car and he had a really lame excuse "Oh, other people were letting me sit in their cars..." WTF? He slowly left and reappeared later to float around our cars a couple more times, completely oblivious that he'd done anything wrong. :dunno:

I should've taken a picture of the guy. Oh well. At least he didn't appear to have harmed the car at all.

88CRX
Did they have mod lists? Were they clean? No dirt what so ever? Did they have doors/windows open to have their interior judged? Hood poped?

If they didnt have one of those then they wont win shit.

Just because a car is RHD doesn't mean it's deserving of a JDM award. Not many of the RHD cars there had a lot going on for modifications.

This reminds me of the time Karbz was flipping out because their dirty, near-stock GT-R didn't win best JDM.

A stock... or near stock looking (remember this is a car SHOW) will not win bext JDM simply because its JDM and is RHD.

'Best of Show JDM' is not an award for best JDM RHD car.

It is for the best 'jdm' car. You do realize that 2 years ago when nobody could import JDM RHD cars the award always went to a USDM car with JDM parts, right?

i never said the car wasnt deserving of an award.. i just think that if a club that is dominantly TRUE JDM, they should atleast get first crack at that award, and there were nicer skylines there that were deserving of that award. i can only see this show going downhill when theres nothing for anyone to look forward to. we have people spending upwards of 40-50k on thier car and they lose to a car with 1500$ rims and a spray job of thier company logo on the side.. theres no motivation to bring your car back next year if when you should most obviously win, but dont because you didnt purchase a booth.

No big deal. That is actually the second award I have ever got for my car. The first was best color at a SCC show. I have put a lot of money into the car, probably more than anyone (excluding the sponsored cars). I just do it for the love of cars. I don't do drugs or drink nor do I smoke. My car is my addiction and its an expensive one. I am just glad that I have a understanding wife that lets me get "high".

I dont understand what you mean by a true JDM club? The award was for an individual. And my car is "true jdm" all spoon/mugen/ctr/j's racing parts. It doesnt get more JDM then that.

And its a know fact that the DTP judges get the trophies around. If you win best of show then you wont win best of class. They try to be fair and not have one or two people win a dozen trophie each.

Before you start digging a bigger hole for yourself, the award went to Best JDM Show.

Has nothing to do with RHD, has more to do with JDM Style. How do I know? I created the award.

Do we need a RHD trophy? I've never been to a carshow with one. We can consider it.

a mildly modded Celica took best toyota over the import scenes most popular and sought after Toyota Supra TT. like wow i couldnt believe that one but i guess hey if you buy a booth you win trophies not how good your car is.

personally there were some other cars there that deserved atleast an honorable mention. It wasnt easy getting a REAL Saleen mustang in there and it wasnt even mentioned in the awards. Theres absolutely no motivation for any of these nice cars to return the next year..

that supra is not a hugley modded car , the celcica is , regadless of who owns it the celica was a beter show car

supeg
Is there a listing of what car won what class?

I shoulda entered but i was busy:'(

you cant be serious lol how many people stood in groups around the celica all day... the supra had some of the most attention at that show.

Before you start digging a bigger hole for yourself, the award went to Best JDM Show.

Has nothing to do with RHD, has more to do with JDM Style. How do I know? I created the award.

Do we need a RHD trophy? I've never been to a carshow with one. We can consider it.

excuse my misunderstanding of the word JDM then sorry.

I drove home from the show last night with my vanity plate still on the back of my car. Oops!

Sorry but I'm not trying to pick on you, but what does "attention" have to do with judging?

I'm looking for input.

supra was def. nice to see... but IMO i think the celica was deserving of the award... the supra had alot of exterior... didn't even pop the hood to get the engine judged... his interior was bone stock... no sound system... so out of the 4 categories he only qualified for 1 of them...

even though it's a supra, you can't expect him to get the award handed to him because the title of the car.

My feedback on the show is that it was small, but alot more quality then last year... Last year we had alot more cars with nothing done to them. This year the JDM cars were all nicely represented and alot more done to them. Last year i remember a late comer driving in a RHD mr2 which was so dirty, and so beat up... the bumper was barely hanging on but was still allowed in the show... but def. alot more "quality" daily street driven cars..

so atleast the show is getting alot better and heading in the right direction.

didnt know you needed to pop the hood on a supra TT to know that even stock its more done up then a celica lol but i understand your point. i just disagree with the decision and i think thats my entitlement.

as for attention, my point was that how does a car that recieved little attention compared to the car that came easily top 4 or 5 at the entire show get pretty much just an honorable mention for basicly second place toyota. the import scene has few cars that makes everyones top lists. supra, skyline, nsx, etc. so when one of these very rare cars come to a show like this only to get run over by an economy daily driver? i dunno just my opinion i think it deserved more then an honorable mention =D this is all i will say on this topic because its not gunna change anyones mind on the matter

I am just glad that I have a understanding wife that lets me get "high".

ur blind man? the supra had a pioneer dvd player along with subs. apexi gauges. LED dash conversion along with the cluster.
it's not much but the celica was the one with the stock interior.
im not saying the supra was better. just letting you know.

2k3Civic
well by interior i mean more done up. i didn't see the celica interior. so i can't say anything about that. But the supra has stock seats, stock steering wheel.....

it's like saying that karbz didn't deserve the best acura/honda award and instead giving it to the near stock black nsx in Garage works booth cause it's rarer then a 1.6el...

92_WhItE_H23: i do however agree with you on the prelude issue... that black one did not deserve to win best prelude...
