want to turbo upgrade, any good DSM shops in Edmonton? - Click HERE for Original Thread

jeramie
I have a 97 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD and am looking at upgrading my turbo. Can any one refer me to any good shops that specialize in DSM turbo upgrades?

DSM
Do you have anything else done to the car? Or do you just want a bigger turbo? read the following thread there is some good advice and some links to some good web sites.

There are no DSM shops in the city, just DSM owners who are more knowledgeable. Buy your parts and have them do it.

thanks for the quick replies !! i appreciate the help, can you suggest a good places to get my turbo upgrades for cheap?

DSM
What are you exactly looking to do? What is already done to your car? Give me a mod list that you have already done to the car and I can help you with what should come next.

Where would you suggest to order my parts from?

I ordered all my parts from Forced Performance in Texas when I did my DSM. They were good to deal with and had good shipping to Canada.

If you want people to work on your car, I would PM either Kris or Phil here (DSM and notaturbotalon) and see if they can help you out. I'd say they're the two guys who know their shit about these cars. I'd be willing to help as well, but my knowledge doesn't even compare to theirs.

If you must, must have a shop do it, you have a drive to Fort Mac, I would say.

WIth the HKS SSQV would you be venting right now or do you have a recirc. kit?

You're at the point where anything you're going to do is going to need a tune to make the best of the mods and have your car running properly. Depending on your budjet, I would say look into a dsmlink, or a mafpro setup(which will allow you to run a speed density setup), a SAFC and normal GM translator will be fine for now but can be pushed to their limits.

What are your power goals, you will need to decide what size of injectors you will be needing, denso is a reputable brand and favored style to use, but the added price can be a turn off. Fuel injector clinic is a solid company and the injectors can be ordered straight from them. You will need a fuel pump, a Walboro high pressure 255lph pump will be able to flow enough fuel for power levels above what your engine can handle, but an adjustable fuel pressure regulator will be needed.

You will need a front mount, intercooler piping, a logger(or wideband), then you can start to think of turbo upgrades. On stock internals, street car, a 50 trim would be your best bet. Every bum on the corner can sell you a 50 trim nowadays, but if I had to choose a best I would say Forced Performance Green, great results on alot of cars, it's a bolt on turbo(uses a mitsu exhaust housing) so your stock manifold will work, can be had internally gated(don't need to buy a external wastegate), and isn't a ball bearing turbo so can easily be rebuilt should the unthinkable happen. If you want something different take a look at what's available from slowboyracings website, crapload of turbos from alot of different companies. But they may not bolt on, and may require new lines, and a new manifold, or an adapter plate, most of which leak.

If you get this far, you'll need a new clutch, ACT2600. You'll need a boost controller, which you can buy after your fuel upgrades and run your T25 into the ground.

This might be a mess of words, but I'm tired. Keep asking questions and do your research.

^^

Phil's got it right. Supporting mods first, then get your turbo and tune it. No point in strapping on a 50 trim and having it grenade your engine in a week. (or an hour)

my HKS SSQ BOV is venting into the atmosphere, is that bad? So what should I do next, my goals are to be in the 300 hp range. Would I be able to do this with my stock T25? Can you guys suggest the mods would give me the most bang for the buck?

thanks for the help, you guys are great!!
