A friend of mine from work asked me to ask you all where is a good place in edmonton to get his H22a rebuilt, its from a 93 prelude sr-v, any input is appreciated, thanks

If by rebuilding, you mean new pistons, etc....you will need to sleeve it. For that, not a single place in edmonton or Alberta is trustworthy. The H series uses silly FRM liners which cannot be re-honed.
Try Okanagon Engine, Laskey racing, Benson Racing Machine, Golden Eagle, etc......go with a place with tried and true sleeve jobs on the H series.

or just go & buy a new H22 or get a low km used one.:dunno:

im guessing that after the shipping and cost of parts and labour for the rebuild that it would be cheaper just to buy the new engine? if thats the case then ill let him know, thanks for the reply's

Mahle has new pistons for the H22 that drop in, no need to sleeve.

im wondering about this as well... id love to do a laskey build but at like 5-6000 a pop its not in my price range hah. and buying a used motor only extends its life by another 100k usually. id prefer to rebuild the engine i have but only an OEM rebuild. theres gotta be somewhere in the city that can tackle a job like that other then honda who probly wants 4000 for a rebuild haa

nope....no one in the city is going to be able to do a decent sleeve job. You can go with mahle pistons and no new sleeves, but that is up to you.
btw, my full bottom end laskey/benson build was under 3000 cdn including pistons and rods. No one in the city will touch that price. If you just want an oem rebuild......take it to EC automotive......good luck with that!

3000 is actually not too bad?? id like to build it just to handle an 11psi charger pulley again. im not sure if it needs a complete rebuild but the compression is getting low on the car and would like to build it back up to spec. and a little stronger to handle the boost from the charger better. if i do an OEM rebuild ill just keep the 7 psi pulley on being as its recomended to run on a stock engine anyways.
btw was that build cost your total including all charges and shipping?? |

That was the build cost for cp pistons, eagle rods, sleeves, I provided the oil pump, crank....etc. It included return shipping, but I paid the shipping there on top of that for my crank, etc....That was only 70 bux through purolator though.
Honestly, all my engine work from now on for any honda is going there. And I received the finished block within 5 weeks too!

well my setup is rather mild.. with 11lbs on stock engine i can get around 280-290whp. i just want to build a strong engine that can take that. what would you suggest i do? keep 7lbs and do an OEM build? or what should i get if i plan on doing 11

go with sleeves, rods, pistons.....
I would get a benson block if I were you. Or at least have someone other than a local shop sleeve the motor. No sense in building the motor without sleeving it. If it were a B series.......I would say leave the stock sleeves....

ok, do you have any recomendations for sleeving at a more economical price.. id like to stay within 2000 for the rebuild.. 2500 at most i would think..

even a sleeve job with shitty sleeves ( I cracked one) from EC automotive will run you over 1000 bux. It isn't the cost of the sleeves...it is the cost of labor. But Benson uses a cnc for all the work and it is perfect.
You could try okanagan engine in kamloops but they will cost the same. And their sleeves have also cracked.
900bux for Benson sleeves (thick ass dartons) is a steal of a deal. You could just send the block down, then build the bottom end yourself. I built my other one.
