Ordering parts from toyota dealership - Click HERE for Original Thread

mitsubitchy
Alright... so the other day I order a gasket, not knowing which gasket it is called.. so I mentioned and even showed the guy my car and hes like oh I know what gasket that is and orders it up. Well I decide to look at it further and ask around and I finally know what its called, well so I return back 1 hour later and try to get it changed. Well he says that it cant be change since its already ordered. so what the fuck no returns or anything?? can they even do that?

This was at kingsway toyota. Im not worried about wasting the money, more the fact that they didnt let me return it or change it.

Renton
Thats bullshit, dont pay for it and go get the one you need from gateway toyota.

FCUK_HONDA
Who was the guy you delt with, give me a name.

dance_of_curse

I have never had a problem at Kingsway. They have the diagrams for all of the cars on the screen so you can see exactly what part it is that you're ordering.

All dealerships have that - in fact, I have it on my own computer haha.

But I'm wondering how they won't let you return the gasket. Did you pre-pay for it? And if so, WHY WHY WHY??? NEVER ever pre-pay for parts. Just order it in, then pay when you actually get it. Sun Toyota is like 5 minutes away from me, but I avoid going there because they asked me to pre-pay for shit, which is ridiculous. So now, I go to Mayfield Toyota, or whenever I can, I talk to a buddy at Lexus of Edmonton.

I buy all my parts from Sun Toyota and never had to pre pay anything.:dunno:

lol prepay for a $10 item? If you don't go to a dealer, where will you go? Crappy Tire?? hahahahha

mitsubitchy
Well I usually go get parts from my uncle at a mechanic shop, so i should of let them handle it as usual, but he was on vacation so i didnt want to wait. Even if he does get it from toyota, at least i dont have to deal with them.

West Side Acura makes me prepay... I don't really mind, but they said if they fucked up and ordered the wrong part, they'd refund me and they have.

So if anyone needs a lower tranny bolt for an NSX; there's one in stock. :p

Welcome to the world we call reality. I work in parts and guys like you piss me off. I mean it's nice that you realized that you ordered the wrong part but if it's already been ordered TFB. 99.9% of special order items are non-returnable to the vendor, so why would the parts department want to order this in, without payment and then be stuck with it because you didn't do your homework to order the right part?

mitsubitchy
ok there..... wouldnt there be something like a restocking fee, id be willing to pay for it. But its the guy that said he was pretty sure he knew what the part was but sure i guess i have SOME part in having some fault as i didnt do much research on what the part was called.

Billy
Think about it....If you don't know what you're looking for how is the parts guy going to know?

Case in point: I just got off the phone with a customer looking for a hose on his rock truck.... His explantion: I need a hose, but I don't know where it goes to or where it starts. Do you know which one I need?

Billy
I should add, that I do agree that there are some real retard parts guys out there, I've probably worked with most of them....
