Edmonton Race Weekend Summary - Click HERE for Original Thread

TrentO
Turbo II ran amazingly well for the Edmonton race weekend. I finished third in the 1 hour enduro (yay, it runs for an hour on a tank of gas) and first in the IT/GT class (only three IT/GT cars showed up). The car is very fast in a straight line, but I had tire temperature issues with the left rear tire. After five or so hard laps I had to slow down a little and wait until the car was straight before getting into the throttle. I still have to weigh the car, but I'm expecting it to tip the scales around 2300 lbs. I ran 10 lbs of boost the whole weekend (which made 341 hp at the wheels on the Apex Modified dyno). An earlier tuning session with the wrong wastegate springs had the car making 459 hp at the wheels at 18 lbs of boost. I quickly de-tuned the car so it lasts on the road course. At 10 lbs the car pulls hard and runs cool and consistent lap after lap. Now we just need to get the driver a little more consistent ;-).

I have two outstanding issues with the car that need to be fixed soon and one long term thought.
The first issue is a way noisy rear end. We knew it wasn't 100% when we installed the rear end, but it seems to have a minor side seal leak in addition to its high noise level, so a better rear end has to go in. The other issue I think I've tracked down to a worn out front caliper piston seal. I need to rebuild the calipers as soon as I can get the parts. During the race I had to bleed the brakes between every session, as the pedal; started to slowly move down as the session progressed.
Long term I'm debating putting a lot more tire under the car, possibly even going widebody with 11" slicks up front and 13" slicks in the rear. I have some serious thinking to do and some serious budgeting before I decide what to do tire wise.

cheers,

What's a rear E- brake? Mine's been removed, saved me at least three pounds.
