I want to buy a 240sx....what year should I get? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Bince
I want to buy a 240sx sometime this fall....hopefully.
But I am having trouble figuring a price cause I am not sure what year and all to buy.
I think I eventually want to get a S15front conversion.

Any ideas on what year I should look at?
and possibly a cost?.

baker_jeff
$1500-$4000 for an 89-90, $4100- $6000 for a 91-93. $8000+ for a 94 convertable.

$6000-$12000 for a 180SX.

$9000 + for a swapped 240SX.

^ Ya what he said.
S14's are out there too but you usually cant find one for less than $8000 or so.
And an S15 conversion will run you around $5000..

second question
I hear S15 front conversion looks good only on 95-98's
but there are lots of 91 240sx's for sale are they any good for s15 front conversions?
Or should I be looking at a 180sx?

Who gives a shit what inspired a person to want something...I still want the Dodge Turbo Intecepter from the movie "The Wraith" myself. Movies are there to inspire. Hell I know a couple guys that have Knight Rider replicas too. Everything in life has to be INSPIRED by SOMETHING.

A few people I know that have been interested in 240sx have ended up getting a Nissan Silvia instead you might want to look down that road.

Having owned 3 s13s , I would suggest an S14a in great shape, wherever you have to get it from.

If you can find one, and have more than ~12 g's than for sure. Body parts are a bitch for them compared to S13's though.

dans14
Body parts are not that hard to come across you just have to look for it. For s14a yes they are harder then s14 but you look hard enough you can find these parts. I have not had a problem buying pretty much a brand new front end for my s14 longest i have had to wait for a part to come in from japan was 2 weeks.

The majority of s14's out there are in bad condition with high kilometers. I would go with a s13 from japan. Low kms cheaper engine is 10 times better.

Most of us older folk, know cheaper is not always better. If I was to buy a180SX I'd be looking to sneak in a 98.

Quater mile at a time is so F&F 1! Its all about one hand brake pull at a time now.

Were comparing stock engines here. Sr20 or Ca18det v.s. the 240 engine. Your asking if I have proof that they are better?

Bince
Hey Ryan,
