Is an OOP inspection enought inspection for a used car? - Click HERE for Original Thread

POX
I am looking at buying a used car the reciently had an out of province inspection(within the last 2 weeks).

Now if i can get a copy of the inspection and verify it, do you think it would be though enought inspection?

Or is there things in an buyers inspection that are not looked at in an OOP inspection?

engine and tranny are not inspected with a OPI. However if done right everthing else on the car should be fine.

I thought the went through the car way better in an opp then they do in a regular inspection. I have never had an opp done, but some of the guys on here make it sound like the car has to be in really good shape to pass opp. I guess if you get a copy of the opp and check to see what they went over you will know for sure.

If this is all for insurance purposes, than the OOP will be more than enough. Its a more detailed inspection than a buyers inspection, so the insurance company wouldn't have a problem using the OOP as the buyers inspection. (Especially if it was only done 2 weeks ago)

I got this from the Alberta goverment website

What the Inspection Involves
This inspection is a basic safety or mechanical fitness assessment that must be performed by a certified journeyman technician who is licensed by Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Program (MVIP). Typically the inspection takes two hours to perform.

The mechanical fitness portion of the OOP Vehicle Inspection involves virtually all vehicle components including fuel and exhaust systems, all electrical, engine controls, powertrain, driveline, steering, suspension, braking systems, wiring and lights, tires, glass, wipers and defrosters.

The vehicle must be maintained within Original Equipment Manufacturers standards or wear tolerances in order to pass the inspection.

Structural integrity inspections establish whether or not the vehicle's frame and/or body exhibit signs of major collision damage and/or repairs. They also examine the vehicle for corrosion in body or frame members.
