| Theft coverage for a vehicle, 1997 Truck, what can I get back from insurance? - Click HERE for Original Thread |

I've never known anybody who had a vehicle stolen, well close enough that they told me the details.
With my dad's truck going buy buy, I've been looking for possible replacements.
Anyhow According to one "canadian black book" site, that only listed back 97, not 96 like my dad's truck, they list a comparible 97 truck worth $2000 - Ouch....
However by looking in the auto trades and buysell.com similar trucks to my dad's are going for $7000-$8000 Private sakes and $9000-$11000 dealership sales.
Anybody have an idea what my dad would get from insurance?

You will get market value for your truck, black book prices are based in Eastern Canada where cars have 10-20 years less of use than our cars here.
If you feel the price you are being offered isn't up to snuff you can negotiate with the adjustor. Usually, if you can provide similar examples (Mileage, year, condition, options) as yours from the Auto Trader or Bargain Finder you can convince them to up their offer.
Their initial offers are usually fair though, as they (As in most larger companies) have a database to search through with recent dealer transactions so that they can base their price on that. |
