What are 240sx convertibles worth these days?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

ReasonOne
Hello Everyone,

I was curious to find out what a 240sx convertible is worth. How much difference in value are the SE's compared to the LE's? Automatics to the 5-speeds? I have a friend who knows a lot about these cars who has another friend who's family owns a Nissan dealership, but he's out of town for a few weeks - so I can't ask him.

Your opinions and thoughts??

I think convertibles were only 1994, and were only automatic?

No idea on the price though.

ReasonOne
Actually that is incorrect.

I do know that Nissan made 240sx ragtops from 92-94. Only about 8500 or so were made in those 3 years. I do believe they were available in stick or auto.

240 verts only came in automatic.

The only S13 made in 94 was the 'vert. But as ReasonOne said, they were also mad in 92-93. It all depends on the condition I guess.

The 91-93 S13s seem to be going for 5000-7000 these days with 200k+ kms on them. But I havent seen enough convertibles for sale to know how much that adds/subtracts from the price.

Hmmm......

I seem to be getting some mixed information here.
:dunno:

I just recently discovered that a 5-speed '92 240SX LE convertible will be coming my way. A friend of the family had it stashed in a barn on his property for over 3 years. He drove it maybe a day or two a month and spent the bulk of his time out of the country for work purposes. I believe the previous owner was his father, who owned it for as long as he can remember (he told me it might have been bought by his uncle new).

This guy was into me for a big debt that dates back to our college days and he settled up using this car. I called him up today and he confirmed that it was indeed a 5-speed ragtop, fully loaded with leather seats and a digital speedometer that reflects off the windshield (?!?) Sounds like a HUD to me? He also confirms that this car was never automatic and that it was always a 5-speed car as far as he can remember.

I have to collect it in 2-3 weeks when I have the time so I wanted to know what I was getting myself into as I am not familiar with 240's. I just wanted to know if I got my money's worth. That's why I was putting this question to the board. Is it a fake or a real one? It sounds pretty authentic to me. What are they worth? If it does need minor work or extensive work, is it worth fixing? Can I get a few more opinions, please?

Thanks a lot everyone.

Bad Egg
The biggest selling/defining feature of the 240/180(JDM) is their excellent 50-50 weight distribution in a RWD platform, lending itself to above average handling. If the strong point of the car is handling, getting it in 'vert form would negate that advantage because of the reduced chassis rigidity.

You will have to try it out for yourself, if all you are looking for is a unique cruiser, it would fit the bill. I personally wouldn't seek one out over the regular body style, but since it is falling in your lap, you will have to decide for yourself.

I would say a 92-93 240SX convertible stick or Auto that’s in good condition no modification that needs no Body, electrical, interior, or engine work; just maintains stuff like spark plugs, fluids, filters with about 200K would be worth about $8000 and it depends if the car has been properly taken care of, parts being replaced when they need to be replaced, fluids, filters, exc..done when it hade to be done.

If you want to get a stick it would be more because someone would have had to dump money into it to switch to manual. Manual cars are generally more.
