Anyone else have Street Bike fever? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Anyone else thinking about buying a bike this year? I think this is the year I give in. I'm looking at a 2003 R6. I haven't heard too much about it but what I have seen and heard it is sweet as hell. Last year I was going to buy a R6 but try finding a blue one in June. Not happening. I am just scared I'm going to kill myself on it, anyone know good motorcycle schools in Edmonton?

A Ducati would be sweet as hell but the bad part about them is that they cost like $20G's easily!!!!

if you have ANY kind of ego, go drive a car
i'll send you a few sites when i get home

respect the bike cuz once you don't, you're dead

don't get caught up in the fast & furious trend for bikes, there is A LOT more to them than just "riding"
i would strongly recommend you sign up for some kind of bike forum (i know the R6 and Honda CBR F4i has very good & large ones) & do AS MUCH research as possible

For a good motorcycle school try this: http://www.safetycouncil.ab.ca/ and click on Motorcycle Safety on the side bar. I'm taking the course in May.

Thanks for all the help. Damn those CBR 600RR's are sweet as hell. I have held myself back from bikes the last couple years mostly because I didn't feel I was mature enough for one. And everyone of my friends that bought bikes laid them down: 1 2000 CBR 600 F4, 1 2002 CBR 929, 1 2001 Triump, 1 2002 RC51, 1 1998 fireblade 900 I think. I would probably have joined them knowing the way I drive snowmobiles and dirtbikes, I like to play but know that a street bike isn't something to screw around with. Anyway thanks again for the help.

Do I have SELF CONTOL?

If you do...you should be fined.

I just bought my second bike, its a 2003 triumph... two years ago I had a 2001 honda F4i 600...it was crazy fast... trust me! I topped out at 274km/h on hiway #2 one late afternoon. Stupidest...yet closest to death and bigestt rush EVER! Bike are the best for mod'ing too(if you got the coin)

JUST BE CAREFUL...and realize---once you become a rider...you'll never go back! EVER! Its that much of a rush. Maintaining a bike is expensive too. so is gear... so I suggest getting something used to start off with...shit! lots of guys in the Bargain finder are selling their bikes and gear, together...way better deal.

I got hit by a truck(1 ton) on my bike...IN A PARKING LOT!! And still got fucked up..so the important thing to know is that attention and quick reflexes will keep you alive...if you lack them DON'T GET A BIKE!!!

A little stubornness helps too... I don't like people telling things are TOO dangerous.

Good luck

I've always wanted a bike.. My dad had a couple bikes and now he just wants to get a big ol'slow phat riding Goldwing.. But man those crotch rockets are sweet. I've always had a soft spot for the R1/R6 and the CBR 600's...... So nice... My buddy has a CBR 600 and it goes like theres no tomorrow..... aww yess bikes.......damn i wish i had a shit load of money to spend!
