I really hope that vehicle is less than 5 years old. If not, you just bought yourself a (soon to be) rust bucket.
NEVER BUY FROM DOWN EAST, unless its brand new of course.
I was looking at a car that had been imported here from the east and it looked great. Then you look under the hood, undercarriage, and thats where all the rust is. |

^^ is soooo right about the rust bucket status. It's because of the salt they use down there.
Anyhoooo...had I known previously I could've driven it back for ya LOL (just got back from T.O. Friday night) but came across this for you to check out SEARAIL |

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking into buying a car from toronto too and I just got a quote back from a rail company and they told me just unter 1k. It's cheaper to take a plane out there for 200 bucks from west jet and drive it back and spend 400 on gas or so. The only downside is the millage you're gonna be packing on and the length it will take to drive. The rail company said it would be about 2 weeks for them to ship it here door to door and that 1k covers everything. In some ways it's worth it because it's no hassle but you're paying a lot and waiting a while.
I'm not sure myself how I'm going to get the car back here. As for the previous post it's a good idea to be cautious about the cars from out east, I made sure I got him to take pics of everything underneath and all. I'm lucky the car I was looking at was garaged from day 1. Anyways post if you find anything, I'm still looking around too. |

Because of the cost increases in fuel, all the shipping companies have gone up. I've found Searail continues to be cheapest. They just quoted me a total of $837 for end of July shipping. They are at www.searail.ca
On top of the cost of flying out east, and the food and gas to drive it back, you gotta figure your personal time off work or whatever has got to be worth something, too. $837 is pretty cheap, comparatively speaking. |
