I know I am not the model driver but I still feel that there is zero need for 210 on Whitemud during a 780 tuners meet.
Tonight I was riding along with a good friend and we were in a pack of around seven people on route to South Edmonton Common starting from WEM. We were all around 80-90 km/h and a group of moderately fast cars doing at least double the speed limit go flying past us nearly taking one of the cars out.
I know this topic has been brought up many times but a cruise is not a cruise when people are just flying like mad men/woman.
We as a group(780 Tuners) had taken a fair few steps forward in regards to cruising and meets in general and I feel tonight has thrown us right back to where we began.
There is a time and a place for everything and flying nearly triple the speed limit down Whitemud is most definitely not the place.
Just felt like we all needed a reminder on what most would consider an important matter of everyone’s safety. |

I'll get shit for sure, since I was the only guy "pulled over" last night, but McFly is right.
The "cruise" down the Whitemud last night was rediculous. The car in question almost rear-ended a small pack right in front of me at what must have been 200+ km/h, including a minivan with a family in it that wasn't even a part of our little "cruise".
No need for that shit, especially when I already got a warning from the cops in the WEM parking lot that they do know we're there, and they're pretty sure they know why we meet there.
I told the officer that we just meet to talk and not to race.
The anti-racing remarks on the board are all fine and good, but it's stupid that they go out the window on the 'Mud.

| There is a simple solution to this. The people who are racing are asked nicely not to show up to the meets, since they can't act responsibly. If they show up, they are told to leave the group and not to come back until asked. It may seem harsh, but the group of people acting responsible are paying the price for the idiots. Just wait until more this ass clownry gets know and places like West Ed, United Cycle and others ban you from their property. It can happen and it has happened in the past. Until as a group you take control of the situation and remove the bad apples from the group, you are going to have problems with the police when you cruise and stop. |

True. If i go to west ed i usually wait for about 10 minutes after everyone else leaves and then i go. I do about 100 but its not 180 wich i have seen a couple of times. I've got 4.10's so my car isnt a fan of highway speeds. |

Does it matter.. Honestly its a meeting place. The vast majority of the people at the UC meets know each other. I am pretty sure if someone wants to start something its going to be over pretty quick when they see that its 20:1 odds against them. If the majority does not enforce the rules the minority will rune it for everyone. (Nightstalker) We are a car club, not the government.. If the minority wants special treatment they can go fuck themselves.
P.S. This kind of thing is the reason i never attend 780 cruises and rarely attend the meets. |

As for the person that was almost rear ended.. he was behind me.. and if he had been rearended.. i would have also because of the close proximity of one lane in a construction zone.
Im with McFly, I don't pretend to be a model driver.. but i know exactly how long it takes my car to stop (yay new brakes) And the person(s) in question.. were going too fast for their vehicles to be able to stop efficienly.
I would hate to be the person responsible for trashing some of these cars.. they are pricey affairs
I would also like to point out, when i drive with a certain group of people, stuff like that doesnt happen -not even close, becasue they pay attention to their surroundings. |

Shawn, I almost garauntee that the guy who almost rear-ended Damien in the SRT-4 was doing close to 200 km/h. I was in the middle lane doing 85 behind a minivan and he came over the rise behind us very, very quickly. Not to mention certain V-8 cars that came up very, very close behind.

Just drove home down 153rd ave and had some "racers" blow past me and 6 other cars, doing a slalom between traffic at about a buck 40. Blue Cobalt SS, Whitish IS300, and A Tercel (ya I know, he should have been drifting).
It was fucking stupid to see how close he came to hitting a van that had a family in it. After they sped off, I looked at the driver of the van and me and him just looked at eachother and went "What the fuck was that shit?" |

LOL, reminds me of the time I tookt eh 159s exit from the white mud, sitting at the light, I was 2 cars back from pole position(in my fifth) this tibi had pole, not 200 up from the other side of the lights was a slick with somebody else pulled over... dummie int he tibi lit his tires up and was playng dosge the traffic that had turned onto the road just before lights changed.. once I was clear of the cop, I sped up a bit to keep up, hoping to catch the dip and get a plate #, get to one block south of Stony and the cop catchs up lights going, I had my window down, he kinda looks at me, so I yelled the tibi went that way and he peeled ofd after.... and got him heh.
Guys like that shouldn't be on the road....
But I've seen worse dude does a burn out/peel out from a light, when not 150ft in his lane in front of him is 5 cruisers with cherries on, just finishing up the paper work after a girl got hit by a car...
Sorry for the hi-jack... but yeah, I haven't been to a meet in a bit(living 100 miles out of the city has something to do with that) but when I did show they whitemud was a gong show, I took fox drive instead... kinda fun taking that curve at 75(limit is 70) and compacts slow to 50-60 heh |

Now i Try to not cruise with the group but i do want to say one thing, I keep seeing "That's why i don't Come out to any of the meets"
Leave that Excuse Somewhere else. The UC parking lot as a whole has been every well Policed by the people that are there, i really haven't seen that many problems this year and for the amount of people out and cars coming in and out its really very good.
If you don't like how the group Drive's and don't want to be Part of it there's a real easy fix, just wait like a lot of people do, then leave on your own time and then you'll be just fine.
Seem like the Only people that Complain about how "Bad" UC is are the people that don't come out and don't have any clue what actually goes on. Try to come out and see for yourself. i think most people will be very Suprised. |

and some people are trying to loose others, and others are trying to catch up to other people
now that i've been informed, that it was the west ed to southcommon one that people are mad about,
take a differnet way
u could of gone henday, terwiliger, 23rd
henday, then elerslie the parson road

Quite easy to control the speeds on the white mud... pisses off all the other drivers who want to go fast though... have 6 lead drivers, that drive in formation 2 by 2 by 2, and as the road goes to 3 lane or 4 lane they spred out and fill the lanes :D then they suck back in to 2 lanes where need be, if done right the lead cars could control traffic all the way from wem to south common, well 23ave anyhow, depending which way you guys go in.
Ever see tht video on youtube or what ever where the college students talk about getting a speeding ticket on a certain highway, where every body does 20-30 over and cops don't ticket for anything under 20 over, or something, then the go out and drive in all 4 lanes, doing the speed limit... and there's that huge huge gap in traffic, and then like california rush hour... I wish I had the time to find the link... |

Regardless of whether or not this is a 780 tuners affiliated cruise(which i believe it is) the speeding just has to stop.
And we did leave in a group seperate from the group in question and i almost landed up getting hit while being a passenger.
From this point on I will not be crusing from any uc meet. I can see most of you have a complete arrogance for this and just as Matt said no one is holding a gun to my head.
And in the future i will discourage any of my friends to go along as well since no one is holding a gun to their head either. |

I agree, the whitemud was a little out of hand saturday night, but I don't think anyone is arguing that point.
I think the point people are trying to make is simple, you can't force people to drive 80, especially when in groups.
Also, these "certain V8s", which came out for the first time were just simply trying to keep up with the group, so don't go pointing the finger where it doesn't belong.
Lastly, you can't ban people from cruising with the group on the weekends, that's pretty handicapped to think that could be enforced. |

I know some of that was uncalled for but seriously, I know who was responsible for my near-incident, and myself and the other person involved are going to have a chat with him about what happened because this is NOT the first time this persons actions have resulted in a close call.
You really don't have any say/control over the meets, other than that of yourself, and if you want, your friends. I believe this may be why you created your True Form Car Club, so that you do have control over some of these things.

I have not sped to WEM in ages.....why, because you get there 1 min after everyone else and i dont want a ticket.
I was not even driving sat night which is why i feel i can post my concerns, i was able to watch everything without worrying about driving.
You guys all are trying to justify speeding down whitemud, that will catch up to you in time.
I am not tryign to control what people do at meets im just askign everyone to slow down to make it enjoyable for all. |
