Little Big Horn Rally - Click HERE for Original Thread

turbomike
The Edmonton Rally Club will host The Little Bighorn Rally on October 22, 2006 at Castrol Raceway in Nisku AB. Novice competitors will get the thrill of competing in a stage rally, for a fraction of the cost of a Pro Rally. Competitors (with no prior experience required) will be able to compete in the family car, with no modifications required. Two people (both with helmets on) will compete in each car, one driving, and the other reading the routebook that tells them where to go, just like a stage rally. An introductory class on the rules of the rally (how to read a routebook, calculate times, where you are supposed to go and when) will be held on the Saturday night prior to the event.

Cars will be released into the stages (or competitive areas) at one minute intervals to keep all the cars separated. Each car has to complete each stage in the rally in order to receive a finishing time for the rally. The shortest finishing time wins the event.

In between some of the stages, competitors will go into service areas, for a rest and any repairs of the vehicle. Family members can be called into play to act as the team's "pit crew". At the end of the day, awards will be handed out, and the winners will get to experience the Champagne spray of victory.

I have a friend interested in this one... but there seems to be very little information.

Could you supply some more specific details?

Thanks,
Justin

Just to clarify: We will be running the STAGES in forward and reverse directions. You won't have to drive your car in forward and reverse directions.

Supplementary Regulations and the Bighorn website will be updated by the 1st of September, along with an entry form, and schedule of events......

Do you have any idea how much the event might cost? Also, will you guys be running any events thoughout the winter?

rexxrally
We're looking at the $150 entry fee range for each team. That's 2 people in the car, and the service crew.

We run Rallycrosses one a month thru December. We take January and February off, and then are back at it in March.

I just bought the car that I hope to be using for these events! You only have the Sept. 17 event prior to this one right?

The co-driver (navigator) will need a digital watch that they can set the minutes and seconds on. Other than that, no, you will not need a stopwatch.

Just like a rally, you will need to check into the stages on your appropriate minute, but once into the stage, it's go as fast as you can.

Prior to the LBR (Little Bighorn Rally), there will be a "Rally School" where all the rules of the game will be taught to the competitors. You'll learn the timing system, how to read a routebook, etc.

We'll probably have the school a week in advance, so we can show competitors some car preparation ideas, too.
