Liar. LOL. j/k. It was awesome. Good time. Ashwin won best 350Z category (which was a very tough category).

Glad you had fun.

Who won the Z32 category? If I had to predict, I'd guess one of the Calgary guys... Chad (CeeLo) or Kent (ConverTT)?

So I hear. He was super happy lol that he won. He didn't think he was going to win...I guess there were some really crazy Z33s there. Anyone get any pics?

MixManMash
I didn't get any pictures unfortunately. However, Doug took pictures of every single car. I don't remember who won the Z32 category.

I don't think ConverTT was there at all. And I don't think Chad won either.

Hmm... the plot thickens.

I can think of two other possibilities of the top of my head...

There is a really nicely done up yellow TT in Calgary with volk rims (and a Stillen fascia I think).

Also there's that kid that had Autodream do his car. On tt.net he used to be "Orange_Z" or something like that and switched his screename to Covert-TT (not Kent, but very similar to his screenname, and car). He may even work at Autodream himself, I can't recall. (Not sure what his car even looks like right now since I haven't seen a recent photo, but according to his profile he has a black 95 convertible TT, w/ Work rims).

Do either of those ring a bell Mash?

MixManMash
nope.

That kid with the orange Z from Autodream lives in Edmonton and he crashed it...

Mash: that was the guy I was telling you about that was parting his Z out, But he decided to keep it. So no parts for us.:( :dunno:

Oh and he's a member of 780tuners.

EDIT: The "kid" with the Autodream Z32 sold it to this other "kid" here in Edmonton which he crashed it.

That makes more sense.

BTW, I consider "kid" a relative term, eh. ;)

His name is Andy, and yes, he works at Autodream. Bought my Stillen IC's and flywheel from him. This spring, he was selling his orange Z and building up a convertible. Nice guy, although he's a little older than a kid, as he has kids himself. Dunno if he was at the show, I wasn't either.

Regards,

MixManMash
There were absolutely no Z32 Convertibles at the show.

I don't think he was holding out. He did mention it to me once, and said he would let everybody know once he got more details. No sense in get everyone's hopes high and not being able to deliver.

I remember the car(s), and I remember the screenname/"persona" on tt.net... I just may not have remembered the correct actual person. I met several people from Autodream back at the 2003(?) & 2005 Calgary shows, some older than others, so I may have been mixing him up with someone else.

Back to Edwin... what's the story with the "kid" :D that bought the orange Z and crashed it here in Edmonton?

Yeah, no worries. It was meant as a joke, but I keep forgetting that I don't have a sense of humor.

I don't NEED any parts. I just like to keep aware of what's out there... options open, like a BUFFET. Mmm... buffet!!
:p

lol ya I won't hold out on my much older Z brothers lol. I don't take an offense being called a kid, lol after all I am 18 so that would make me the Kid of the Z club. (your little Z brother lol, so you're obligated to help your little Z brother out when he needs it. That goes for all Z members hahaha:D) Ya the kid that bought the Z from Andy drove it into the back of a trucks tire...or was it the truck back into him with his tire...:dunno: one of those stories is right I don't remember. Mash is right, if I find any Z's that have parts to offer to us I'll post up on here or something.

My sources tell me it was in fact Chad that won the Z32 category on the weekend.

Which doesn't surprise me. He won last year too. His paint quality is immaculate.

MixManMash
ahh. okay. I didn't really hear the name or get a chance to see the car after he won.

Black 95TT, spoiler-less, Stillen GTZ-R fascia, Volk rims, Stoptech brakes.

MixManMash
ok. I recall the car. It parked two cars down from me. Very clean car, aside from the GTZ-R fascia (not a fan of it).

You're such a hater. :p

You poop on the jspec fascia...
You poop on the 94+ spoiler... (I say you're a tt.net bangwagon jumper on this one... :p Have you even SEEN a 94+ spoiler in person? - they're pretty rare around here).
You poop on the GTZ-R...

That's a lot of pooping.

Is there anything you DO like?

lol. You know, at the first glance I did like the Jspec front fascia, but once I saw it enough, I started to not like it.

And yes, I have seen many Z's with the 94+ spoiler in my trip to California (Dec 2003 - Jan 2004). I don't like it.

And I definitely don't like the GTZ-R front fascia.

Your point I believe is that I poop lots. Well, I like to eat lots, so therefore I poop lots!

Now for the serious part: IMHO, everyone is entitled to do whatever they want to their cars, they have to live with it! And they also have to live with other people's criticism. Personally, to each their own. I know you like the 94+ wing. You should do it if you like and don't mind what I think about it. I'm just expressing my opinion. That's the beautiful thing - we can do what we each like to our cars. Imagine if we all did the same thing - it would be boring after a short time.

Now back to the fun part: As for what I do like, here are some examples:

Take these two picture below, minus the wing (ugh) and minus the two tone paint (lol this reminds me of that other post on tt.net):

And add one of the following flush mount spoilers.

That's what I would do for now. Of course that might change, who knows. There's always new things that come out and new ideas that come to mind.

That's fair.

I was just buggin' you because the whole topic of hating on the 94+ spoiler seems to be one of those bandwagon/clique things people on tt.net do. Like its cool to slag it, or something. :p

Kinda like that stupid RIMS vs WHEELS thing.

As for me liking the 94+ spoiler, yes I do actually. But whether I decide to do it or not, that remains to be seen. The cost to convert won't be cheap. The old holes needing to be filled, and new holes drilled, plus the 3rd brake light panel, adds to the expense. It might almost be cheaper to swap in an entire hatch from a car that already has the 94+ spoiler.

Before the Zeta wing came into production, which is the first reliably made and accurate copy of the 90-93 spoiler, I was more strongly considering the 94+ spoiler. At that time I deemed it the best of the available options (vs. bad copies of the 90-93, Kaminari, 99 jpsec, etc.). Replacing in kind with OEM was no longer possible (discontinued) and undesireable due to its inferior materials of construction and longevity. Now that the Zeta wing exists, it might just trump the 94+ in my decision, especially since it would be a direct bolt-on replacement.

No worries. No bandwagon jumping here. Just my honest opinion. :D

What you need to do is find somebody else with a black Z32 with a 94+ spoiler/hatch, but who wants a 90-93 spoiler/hatch. Do a swap.

I actually like the Kaminari flush mount. LOL, let the criticism begin.

LOL. I never said I didn't like the Kaminari spoiler. I just like the 94+ oem better.

I could go 50/50 on the 90-93 vs 94-96... I like 'em both.

Then after those, I like the Kaminari next (although again, undecided whether I prefer the 60-LED brakelight vs. oem brakelight versions).

I really do NOT like the 99 jspec spoiler. Doesn't suit the car at all, IMO. But like we have all been saying, that's just MY opinion and everyone's different.

The Stillen SMZ/Type-III spoiler is kinda neat... but I don't think its something I could do. Too high... too flashy (and too heavy and too much drag). Looks ok from some angles, and looks better on some colors than others, but really needs the rest of the full body kit to compliment it.

Then there's some bizarre ones out there... the F40 style... the double-decker whatchamacallit? The do-luck... the Veilside... ? None of those are my taste.

Yup, I'm with you there. After the SMZ/Type III (which is already fairly out there), the rest of the spoilers get crazy.

As for body kits, I would have to say the plainer Stillen Type III or the Kaminari. Subtle enough, yet adds just a little something.

As for the criticism, I didn't mean you. There are plenty out there in the Z32 community that don't like the Kaminari Spoiler. Really, to make it work well, you need to have the Kaminari Bumper. And of course, with the Bumper, you need the side skirts. And of course, with the side skirts, you need the lower lip... lol... You really need the total package to make the look work.

Inzane
Hey, you know what's missing from this thread........?

PICTURES!!!!! :smack:

(I mean pics from the Calgary show on the weekend)

MixManMash
Better get them from Doug.
