anyone have a list of notoriously bad roads in Edmonton? Roads with dips, bad drive-ins or stupidly big speed bumps?
Cant think of any at the moment cept the Kingsway Ave I think.
-The one that runs from Mcdonalds/Bus Terminal to NAIT main campus. Headed South, the road dips and rises so f'n much. |

^^yea i was going to say that too
yellowhead after 149st to about 170st is really bad for lowered cars |

next time u head down stay in the center lane and move a little to the right so your left tire is almost touching the left dotted line it helps alot, you wont feel a thing and you wont have to change lanes. |

| Entire Ft.Road up to yellowhead is a bitch. 153rd ave has some seriously fucked up uneven pavements sections too. Dips and shit send my ass flying if I forget about them, and when I remember them I have to approach them at like 40km/h. |

Bingo!! Whenever I take that road now I always go in the right lane. Not the one that ends and turns into the 7-11. It's still got a few bumps but nowhere near as bad as that middle lane. |

^^looks like the secret is out. I thought Iw as the only one who did that. Odviously that street racer in the bimmer didnt.
104ave west along G mac, stay in the far left lane up till where you turn in to the casino. Right lanes are shit.
Jasper ave west right infront of the telus tower has 2 nice big bumps.
ST.A Trail a block north of the yellowhead = shit. Shows you what concrete streets do after a few years. Hope the henday wont turn into that.
99st from the weaton autobody (north of argyll) south till 23ave. Lots of tain tracks, semi groves, man holes, and just gay bumps.
Those are just a few of the many.... |

Far right lane is by far the worst part. You'd think I'd have figured it out after dodging the same pothole 200 times. :(
Also there's 167th ave from 127th to 112th street. Uneven, grooves, potholes, narrow. I'd be wary of buying into the new houses going up around there; the bad road won't stay even on the swampy ground. I wouldn't think your concrete driveway or basement would last either. |

i'm with this guy ^ with all the money here the roads sure do suck. i was kinda spoiled though in Victoria, the roads there are beautiful.
the worst i've seen are the manhole castings on a few side roads, they can be like 6-8" above the road!! |
|

| ^The roads here are not built for sports cars. Im pretty sure if you drive down those roads in a Dodge Caravan or Cavalier or w.e, you wont feel the vibrations the same way as a car thats been dropped 2 inches. |

How about 63rd ave between 99th street and Gateway... brutal there... I think it's concrete sheets again; just shit. They work in Winnipeg, but not here; I don't get that. |

99th street north... like the whole damn thing from 51rst ave all the way to saskatchewan drive is horrible.
terwillegar drive merging on whitemud west. the bridge is hell and then there's a series of 4 big bumps there after. The first one isn't so bad; then the second one is hopeless (I have to slow down to 60-70); you gotta hug the left side on the third bump and then the right side for the fourth bump.
142 street I think... go off 149 street off the whitemud and head north... turn east at the mcdinks and then north off the traffic circle. there's a viscious bump at the first set of lights.
72 ave west off of 109 street. it's really bumpy but thank jeebus the max is 50. any faster and it'd be considered rape.
whyte ave east right where sask drive turns into whyte. right at that intersection all the way down to 109 street.
rabbit hill road... like the whole damn thing.
there's also a HGUE fucking car-eating bump right by Telus Field. It looks like a hot spot for fender benders cause all you see is shattered plastic everywhere. I was following a friend and watched his car get mauled. I was able to change lanes in time (we were only going 60 too). |
|

gateway near sonic, stay out of the second lane if your going fast in a lowered car you'll feel your car bottom out, stay in the far left. there is a huge dip in the 2nd lane from the left. Im sure alot of you know that already though.
Im not sure what street it is but the street going south past the u of a farm that passes a petro canada, that road is nothing but holes, bumps, and bad dips. |

We used to catch air in the trucks at work late at night... just go bombing towards them and hit 'em at like 100ish... good ol 14 ton trucks with airbag rear suspension would just bounce you into the roof.

There is also 170th st at 95th ave, all the lanes going south bound have the big ruts from all the semis. The left turn lane is the worst, if you don't have a good grip on the wheel you can hit the curb or fly into the other lane. I know 170th is a hell of a busy road so that's why I think it take a shit kicking. i remember last summer three or four of thoes bumps grew as you went north bound. The same as the one that was mentioned before right by west end. The other day I saw a sidewalk that had buckled up like 6 inches from the pressure that whole sidewalk was under. That was pretty crazy.
*On a side note if your looking for a good puddle to hit, wait for a good rain and head south on 170th and head west on the whitemud. If your there at the right time the puddle takes up the whole lane and it's got to be 4 or 5 inches deep on the one side. I didn't see it last time and the water went up and over the cab of my F-150. |

Wow.. I've driven pretty much every place you guys have complained about in Both my Neon and my fifth...Yeah, some of it's bad, but I don't find it anywhere near as bad as you guys...
Just the South bound on St Albert Trail, under the bridgem the new light tot eh yellow head.. that concrete section, I find it really hard to panic stop there, or sometimes even stop for hte light. |

also... there is so much damn construction due to bad roads.
Its such a pain in the ass.
We gotta find better ways or quicker detours to move traffic faster when their working on the roads, cuz that drives me crazy.
I'm sure its not only me thats annoyed too. |

Hi gerrycurl,
I am not sure if I would rather drive on the roads the city has just fixed or the deteriorating roads. Anyone drive 51st Ave heading West lately between Allard Way and 106St? Is it just me or does it seem absurd that the new "Pave and curb job" the city did seems screwed up. Why is it that the pavement is sitting about 2-3 inches lower than the lower edge the curb? The sewer inlets along the curb are about 2-3 inches higher than the road. Everytime it rains it seems like I am driving through a lake as the water does not drain. Then there is the Mount Everest bus stop that the busses need to drive up onto.
Nice work, but it may be time to redo the whole thing.

They only did one side. It is the right hand lane. It is a two lane road in both directions and they only did one lane out of the four. I had thought they were going to repair the entire road, or at least one side going one direction.
I hope it does not stay like that for a year or two. In my humble opinion the sharp and rough edges of the curbs are a tire hazard. The top of the curbs are fine.
