This is my trainer's site. He did something similar last year and got a pretty good response and was able to send a bunch of stuff over the people at Camp Julien so he's doing it again this year.

They may already have done this, but if they set it up as a non-profit charity they could give tax deductible receipts.
On the same topic, what other ways are there that people know of showing support for our guys? I have seen the yellow ribbon car decals out there.
Maybe I should just go to a north end pub and send a couple of jugs of beer to the first table of soldiers I see? |

One of the guys in my car club got back last week and the other guy should be back either this week or next week... so check the parking lot for a bunch of modded mustangs and then send the beer to the table with the highest percentage of mullets. :thumbup: |

Good point...I would not be cut out for that job. I have enough trouble switching from work mode(get to the point, get it done yesterday) to home mode(caring, patient, understanding, nurturing) with a corporate job. It would be a huge stretch for me to translate that to a life and death occupation like soldiering in a combat situation, and then coming home and trying to act "normal". |

You are probably right, I may have mistakenly lept to the conclusion that he was talking about guys that were still a little psyched out by being on edge for so long, when "behind the wire" more likely means the rear echelon types who never left the compound.
Didn't the non-combat types take some hits too, from roadside bombs, RPGs, etc.? I can see where combat types might resent them, but as a civilian in Edmonton, just being in Kandahar seems risky to me. |

| I might get flogged for this, but i dont understand why we condone violence, people make these decisions to join the armed forces, they know what lies at the end of that road. I would love to go get my rage out overseas and kill innocent people, for wealth, damn it would be fun as hell, bombing someone back into the stoneage. But really I cant bring myself to do it, cause the same system that tricked those people into joining is the same system that keeps us safe and warm at night. My real question is who is to blame..... you me we, all are. So i guess what i'm sayin is, our troops are nothing but a number just like all of us, just like the casualties overseas, so save yer fucking money and get your kids an education so we can eventually wake up and stop killing eachother, to enjoy a peaceful and meaningful existance. Because this generation is already dead. |

My civil rights are doing just fine thank you. Nor do I have a 65' wide screen in my house.
War isn't always about money. How can you say that about WW2? Or Vietnam? Explain how America profited at all from 'Nam. It was bound by treaty to fight.
