Sky Diving at Eden North - Click HERE for Original Thread

GOT BOOST
Hi everyone,

A bunch of my friends and I are skydiving wih Eden North Sept 10 2006.

Has anyone jumped with them? What are your thoughts and experiences?

I am not the one that put this jump together. From what I hear, they are quite good from an instructional stand point.

It is one of the items on my "To Do" List before I die. If I like it, and live, I may continue on with it.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Nikolai

alot of people that i worked with went in a big group and got a discount from Eden North. the first jump usually costs more since you need to be trained for the next 5 hours or so, and then theres the jump. each jump after the first one is quite cheap actually provided that you bring your own parachute, even if you rent theirs its still pretty cheap. if you like sky diving, then you can try out the solo stuff where they train you to jump solo. costs alot, but the people i work with say its worth it.

personally i havent jumped with them as i didnt meet their requirements, but if i did, id definetly give them a try

Hey Mike,

I have a friend who started jumping at Eden North last year and got hooked. They are extremely professional (well as professional as crazy skydivers get), and very paitent with first time jumpers. My friend has now logged more then 50 jumps out through Eden North and she got her solo certification thru them.

It comes with high recomendations:thumbup: I'm to much of a pussy to jump but I've been out there and its a cool place.

this is kinda like me asking my friend at work if hes gonna go jump, then he looks at me and says, 'when in the history of mankind, has a black man ever jumped out of a perfectly working plane'.

have fun mike:thumbup:

You will absolutely love it. I went for my first time 3 months ago in New Zealand and it was amazing. I thought it would be just a one-time thing to do before I die like you said, but now I'm addicted, I'm sure you will be too.

Have fun and GET THE DVD!

(Not counting freefall jumps).

Jumps are exciting for the first 2 seconds.

Newbie jumps all you do is look up, hope the chute opens and the rest is pretty boring actually. Look around, do a few turns, and land.

Parachuting is just one of those things you tell your friends about, 'oooh! it was soo cool, whee.' In reality it's just another one of those 'hey dude' story things (hey dude! I was in Europe! hey dude! I went paintballing).

All of these stories involve the word, 'blast.' Ie you can tell if you're telling a boring story if you say, 'I had a blast.'

Hi Ehos,

You have a very intersting and unique perspective on life. I for one enjoy hearing about how people had a "blast", or had fun. If I did not hear about a story or how much fun it was, or how much fun it was not, I would not be inclined to pursue it further. The world is not about me and it never has been about me. The story is about the person and how much fun they have had while they were doing that event. If for one second you think they are telling the story just for your entertainment and for you, then you my firend are a very self centered person whom I have no respect for.

How many times have you thought, "Oh.. that is a neat idea, maybe I would like to try that". It appears that you have done everything and experienced everything in your life time, so nothing is exciting to you. For that I congratulate you.

As for the stories you have heard about people saying they had "a blast". Perhaps these people are not as good of a story teller as you, or had the same amount of fun you have had in the past during your many adventures on this short time on earth.

I would be inclined to hear a story you tell about something you have done and be the judge if it is entertaining or not.

Sorry if that post hit a nerve Mike.

It was an attempt at wit/humor that must've missed the mark and hit your 'piss me off button.'

But my point still stands, most people that tell 'exciting' skydiving stories are about newb jumps. The real excitement is in the freefall jumps (trust me they won't be using the word, 'blast' to describe them).

Hi Ehos,

No worries. I now understand where you are coming from. The ones that do something for the first time and then try to come accross as experts and know it alls annoy me too.

Yes, the way it came across did hit a nerve, but now consider the "Piss me off button" reset! :D It is always difficult to tell someones intentions online when something is posted.

I retract and appologise for my previous post!

As for everyone else,

Thanks for the info and the advice on packing another pair of ginch!

The date has to be be bumped to another date as I forgot I was writting Part B exam of my course on the 12th. We may book for a week or two after that! And I think I will get the DVD. That way I can watch my self screaming like a girl for 30 or so seconds.

No probs Mike, I came off a bit harsh as well. Ask the instructor or whoever to do a tandem freefall jump.

YOU will have some exciting stories to tell then :)

newaccorddriver
jump while you still can. youll be glad you did it. ill be jumping for sure when i meet the requirements.
