OK, so there's this MKI MR2 that's been sitting in the yard of a shop I drive past every day since before May. I went in to ask about it, and it turns out it's an N/A, Auto with a toasted engine. (Just under 200K - I don't remember any more than that) Could be good for me, since I'm looking for a winter car and a daily driver while I work on the rex.
My question is what would be a reasonable offer for the car as-is? I think the shop owns it, so I bet he wants to get rid of it by now.
The other questions, too, is what would it cost to get the engine rebuilt? Since I would have some time, (I was planning on getting something in the spring) what could I reasonably expect to spend on parts to do it myself. (OK, I'd have to bribe my mechanic step-brother to help me, since unless it's just swapping out a bunch of parts, it'd be beyond me.)
Thanks Guys! Hope you give me a favorable answer! |

I would offer him 500 bucks for the car, even up to a thousand depending on the body condition.
500 if its alright. 1000 if the body is excellent.
Then get a rear clip from JDM source, it will cost you about 2 grand for a supercharged clip.
Then swap it over. |
