Air ride question. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Cody D
I've been thinking about putting air ride suspension on my daily driven and winter driven car, the car as it is right now is so low that it is a hassle, I was thinking that if I put an air suspension on it I could have the low ride height plus a little more practicality.

Anyone here running air suspension on their daily driver? I need to find an Edmonton shop that can put one in my car. I also need to know if it will handle winter temperatures.

I've found a couple sites, and looked through a couple forums, but I was looking for more local experience.

Check out Macgyvers. Winter is no problem all highway rigs have a air ride suspension, and I've also ran them in winter.

Macgyvers - 432-4248. ain't cheap but you'll be happy.

Thank you for the info, I was quite off on what I expected for a price.

Yes it is, don't worry I'm not air-bagging the NSX, haha.

I found this... http://www.universalairsuspension.com/on-road/ it looks pretty easy to install, and the price is a lot better.

I was thinking of doing this for my IS but i wasnt able to find any real info, i love to see that article ron

The performance article was from Air Ride Tech, they do put out some good stuff.

Whoever tells you that running an air set up in the winter is easy obviously hasn't run an airset-up in the winter.

Can it be done? Of course but they require maintence, and common sense. Water/Condensation is your enemy in an air set up, any freezing occurs and valves stick which is a royal pain in the arse. You will need to run inline air dryers, water traps etc..etc...

Can be done, just make sure it's done right. Suspension is NOT something you want to cheap out on.

For a daily driver I would reccomend the EasyStreet Autopilot, it's a full digital system that has ride height on startup, very nice system, fairly easy to install etc..etc...

More pricey than a standard guage set up but it's also a lot more user friendly and you arn't wasting your time running air lines through the car to get to the guages.

Along with leak detection etc..etc..I don't think id go another way for a DD.

(I have standard needle guages in one my trucks and don't really care for them)

Any install I do or sell I do the autopilot.

So I was quoted at 6-7 thousand by the friendly gentleman at Macgyvers, I understand that there could be a lot of fabrication work and other instalation issues, but that just seemed high to me.

I might just throw the stock suspension into the car for winter, then lower it again next spring.

damn, Tien coilovers with the electronic controler would be cheaper

Electronic controller does not adjust ride height, just stiffness.

I had thought that Tien had a set that adjusted height, I couldn't think of how they would do it, but I'm sure I read somewhere they did.

There isn't much fab work involved in an IS300 install, you are looking at airstruts which are basically bolt in replacements.

If you go with the Autopilot system like I mentioned it would end up being a lot cheaper on the labor side since there is essentially no real wiring, just plug and play.

If you want a cheaper quote I can put in touch with a reputable air-ride shop.

That would be very helpfull, I don't really need anything fancy, just something that works.

these would be a cool alternative to an air ride setup.
