How much km do you get per tank? - Click HERE for Original Thread

type r
My bro's mr2 only gets about 400-450 km a tank of gas, is this normal for mr2's?

What is your gas mileage like?

Also how can his mileage be improved? he thinks it is running rich because everyonce in a while the exaust backfires. Is this effecting the gas mileage? how can I fix this?

Thank

Tech2
I wouldn't worry too much about km per tank, but I would (and do) keep track of km per liter. I'm anywhere from 11.6km/L down to 9.5km/L on a tank of seafoam with dirty ass plugs. That's like 23-28 miles per gallon. With miles per tank you're basically just guessing, as you could easily be off by 10 liters, or 100 km.

stealth
I get about 175-190 km/tank on the highway.

My car runs pig ass rich.

RDS Celica
^ your car is fucked lol

if hes getting 400-450 thats some really good mileage. I would get 350-400 on the stock 26. Considreably less with other turbos.

The ECU runs really rich from factory. I wouldnt worry about the backfires, ecspecially if he has the cats removed its a very common thing.

mitsubitchy
what the fuck 200 km a tank LOL man thats awsome.... its like a lamborghini engine or something..

Anyways i get around 400-450 a tank with some agressive accelerations.

Soulfly
I usually fill up at 35 liters.. and I have a 45 liter tank.. That Get's me about 400-500 Depending on how I drive... :dunno:

If I ran it RIGHT empty.. then prolly around 600-650km/tank..

BTW.. those 400km's were HARD driven km's.. :p

Tech2
Now with different cars it's even less useful to compare miles per tank. Just post up your km per liter!

And stealth, what the hell?!?!? Are you getting your fuel siphoned by the local punks every week or what!

stealth
Hhaha. Well once is my O2 sensor took a turn for the worse. Another reason is I am using a wrong ecu.

I unno, it just sucks hahah!

I think I may have my Fuel Pressure Regulator set to high!!

Tech2
Damn man, you gotta fix that shit! Financially it would make sense after only 2 months or so. Get'r fixed!

stealth
hahah.

Yea I know. But I parked the car already, and drive a honda now hahahah.

Tech2
Drive a hondah instead of your 2? D'OH!

Texmex
i get any where from 300-400km to a tank with mine

rickjames_mr2
Dido, about 315KM per tank in the city, about 500KM per tank on the highway.

Bad Egg
It's a different car, but my GT4 with a 3SGTE gets about 24 -28 mpg combined city/hwy, depending on how much into the boost I get. I have a huge tank in my Celica, about 68 L, when the warning light comes on I still have well over 10 L left.

I would have thought a stock MR2 would kill a GT4 in gas mileage, given our greater weight and AWD. Of course, anything modded for HP is not going to run cheap.

<edit>My JDM 3SGTE has the extra 20/25 HP resulting from the more aggressive ECU tune(leaner), combined with running 94 should have some influence on my economy. My theory is it gets better economy non boosted, and burns more fuel in boost, both due to increased efficiency.<edit>

Tech2
I bet we could all make use of better more efficient tuning...

Rich-ass running 3SGTEs...

mitsubitchy
I think I get worse MPG ever since I got a BOV cause I seem to love to shift just to hear the sound =/ lol i dont care too much about how much gas my car eats though
