how much usually does it cost? i was gonna do a wheel alignment and the guy told me that my bolts were sized and i need to replace my lower control arms. how much are the lower control arms? aftermarket?

MixManMash
I am not sure how much lower control arms are. I would phone around at the dealerships. One option is to go with SPL's adjustables, but it might be overkill depending on what you are looking for.

Hold on a sec. The rear lower control arm is not adjustable nor does it have anything to do with alignment.

The upper control arm provides limited camber adjustment, and your toe and traction rods (I'm assuming you have an NA?) will provide toe adjustment.

Make sure the person has identified the correct part(s) in need of replacement BEFORE you order anything.

 WAAAAAY overkill Mahesh. Have you looked at what they cost? They're $750+ USD I think, and special order only. Very very few people have them, and they are deemed suitable mainly for race applications, not a street car.

New OEM control arms should be a mere fraction of the cost.

how hard to replace lower control arm and bolt myslef?

MixManMash
Good question. Somewhere here lies the answer... http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/...lt&total=25

The part in question is what the service manual calls the transverse link assembly. The manual is somewhat useless in the exact procedure - it just says, remove the tension rod, the lower ball joint, and then the lower control arm.

That's the front suspension there Mahesh.

I assumed from his thread title that he was asking about the REAR lower control arms.

When I removed my lower control arms I had the whole rear subframe already out of the car, which made things easier. But with it on the car, I could see it being tricky. The axle half-shalf is in the way of the ball joint, if I recall correctly.

crap. I was thinking front the whole time. :banghead:
