Please avoid Canadian Tire Tune Ups - Click HERE for Original Thread

Apexparts
We had a customer come in today to get his car Dyno'd.

It was a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3.

During running through the Gears we noticed the car was running rough. The customer asked to have a pull done anyway.

At idle the car would vary between 550 and 800 RPM.

We asked him if we could inspect the plugs because he said he had just had a tune up at Canadian Tire.

We remove the plugs, they were Bosch Platinum +4's, and we saw 2 were damaged and there was acellerated wear on the plugs.

So we drove him to get new plugs.

The great thing is that the DOHC ZX3 can only get the plugs from the dealer at this time. Canadian Tire had put in the SOHC Plugs (1/2 Inch shorter). :o

Needless to say this solved the problem and the car picked up 10+ HP at the wheels.

SO PLEASE AVOID Canadian Tire like the plague!

I've never got anything done at Can. Tire but that's not something new for me.

:stupid: I had the NGK Iridium ones in my car, those were crap as well. Not worth the price and they wear out fast. I got switched to regular NGK's, what a noticable difference.

Kato, you shop at crappy tire all the time, i see your car in there on a ragular basis,

I think the issue here is the service center and not the products. I go to Canadian tire once in awhile. Hahhah, I was just there with your djshortys but that was just the parking lot.

Like anything pertaining to performance, parts work as a package. Iridium spark plugs are not crap. They have their strengths and their weakness'.
Many forced induction application's run Iridium plugs. Platinum plug's in a forced induction application are "crap".
Please try to avoid making inacurate blanket statements, it only helps to spread misinformation across the internet.
Instead, you can try something like, "I tried iridium spark plugs in my (insert vehicle description here) and I so no real benefit given the added expense."
If people are going to look at message boards to arm themselves with information to aid in creating a fast car for any purpose, I would like to see them armed with accurate information.
