The problem could be a faulty Oil Pressure Sending Unit. This is located by the Oil Filter.

The tech page on twinturbo.net details how to change this.

Coz carries this item.

However, if it isn't this item, it could be a dented oil pan. To run a full test of oil pressure, read here

will this effect the cars performance at all?

If it is just the oil pressure sending unit that is faulty, no it won't. However, if it is the pan that is dented or for some reason the oil pressure isn't building up, you can potentially starve your motor of oil and destroy it.
