i finished the install of some msd ignition components in my gf's cr-v last night.
I instaled a blaster ss coil p#8207, msd cap and rotor p#82923, and 8.5mm super conductor plug wires p#32329.
my tech question(s) is this; will the MSd 6al ignition box compliment the components i installed, or am i just overkilling? and is there a way i can wire in a Apexi SAFC into the cr-v, or is there an application for this vehicle?

| The 6AL is just overkill/waste of money, and so is probably all the MSD stuff. Reading on a lot of Honda forums, other than the MSD billet distributor most people prefer to run the stock Honda stuff over the MSD stuff. Especially with high horsepower cars, a lot of people were having problems fouling plugs and with misfire issues when they went to MSD stuff, but it all cleared up with a stock Honda ignition system. IMHO it's just a waste of time, same with if you buy an SAFC. The car is tuned fine from the factory, and without a wideband trying to adjust the A/F ratios is going to be a crapshoot and would probably result in no more power. |

| What about the SAFC-v the one that lets you adjust the v-tech? |

i am noticing a bit of a stumble and jerk at light and medium throttle, my idea is that i change the plugs out for a colder range plug.
This never happend with the stock stuff.

I had a simialr set-up on my mx-6, coil, super conductors and 6al, ran fine for awhile but then starting detonating and missing, removed the 6al (and changed plugs/were super white) and it ran fine. |

why did you even bother to 'Upgrade' It??
Stock Honda Ignition Is awesome...
You should Revert it back to stock.. and Do that Head swap you've been thinking about. |

i did it because i beleive that there is always room for improvement, and bein a car guy i can never leave shit alone, upgrade/fuck with/modify, all means the same, and the head swap will come in time, more than likely will be an entire buildup on a stand that way it will be a one out one in exchange instead of down time on the truck.

| From what I have been reading, an MSD upgrade on a stock engine will produce little to no performance. If you think about it, the only time you would need a bigger spark is if you are eating more air/fuel. |

Personally, I think you need to step back and think about what your goals are. If you're just doing it to tinker/upgrade/play, then any upgrade that doesn't greatly affect driveability would be good.
However, if you're upgrading because you want more power, better performance, etc.... You should be looking elsewhere. OEM parts are pretty much guarenteed to get your car running perfect (As in, off the showroom floor). Why take a chance with MSD products with no noticeable power improvement? |

well, the truck needed new components anyway, none and i mean none of the regular maintenance other than oil changes were done, so in went new plugs, wires, the MSD coil was faulty anyway so i had to buy OEM cap and rotor. I did notice a bit of difference with the new plugs and wires, the car starts easier and the throttle response is better.

If the vehicle wasn't properly maintained, it's best to spend your time/money doing the small things first. That's where you'll notice differences. Install the MSD at a later time. Do an air filter, oil change, new tires, alignment, clean the injectors, regular maintance, etc. then do performance.

that was my idea as well, my reasoning is that y spend money twice when i can just buy the perf. parts now instead of buyin OEM then shortly thereafter buying the perf. parts.
