I'd like to learn how to make a widebody kit out of fibre glass - Click HERE for Original Thread

Kev-Bo
anyone know lots about fiberglassing or know of any sites that i could find some fiberglassing help??

Mobius
What are you fiberglassing? Are you trying to patch holes with fiberglass, or are you building a moulded item?

Kev-Bo
im making a wide body kit

Thegnome
If you do try to tackle that. Take some pictures of your progress. I suck at fibre glassing. But I have wanted to modify my front lip. So it would be cool to see some newbie attempts to give me inspiration.

Kev-Bo
ya i will be posting pics as soon as i get the foam to make my side skirts

Britain
I used foam. It's okay I guess. Block of High Density foam are hard to find and you might find yourself gluing sheets together. Any blocks tend to not be very dense (aka you cant sand it)

this is just about 20 min of fiddiling arround but the shape i want is there now for some mono foam on the back and then the glass

the pics lick balls ill try and get my other cammera working

Britain
Get high density foam. Low density is hard to work with. HD is hard to find though and expensive. To make a 1 foot by 1 foot block will cost you like 25 dollars. I think totem sells blocks but for the sandable stuff you need the stuff that only comes in sheets and then you glue it.. Here's a trick. Dont use styrofoam, use tin foil tape.. Layer it to make a sturdy base and fiberglass ontop of it!
