Poblem with the deuce any ideas ? - Click HERE for Original Thread

JDM300ZXZ32
Tried driving the mr2 last night and ran into a bit of a problem. Curious to see if anyone has had this happen to them ?

Started up just fine but has a terrible stumble upon acceleration. Once I managed to bog it down the road I look behind me and flames are coming out of the exhaust!!!

Barely made it home and stalled about 50 times on the way.

ANY IDEAS ?

Vaccum/Boost leak. Check all your hoses, and make sure everything is tight.

Thanks I'll try that. Doesn't explain why there is so much fuel getting burned though ?

Any other ideas ?

lots of reasons

bad afm
bad temp gauge(ecu/?), causing rich fuel
etc etc

more symptoms?

Some more signs...

Had it out about a month ago and it hesitated on boost SOMETIMES

Engine light is now coming on

read the cel

or

you said you started up and had problems accelerating, was the car fully warmed up?
when my engine isnt warm, it does that.
my temp gauge (ecu) is messed up and needs replacement. but thats my case, no cel for that.

Usually when you have boost leaks you dump alot of fuel, I have no idea why, but thats what I seen in my car and others.

But your car should not be shooting flames, check to see if your 02 sensor needs replacing.

The car was doing the same at cold temp, as well as at normal temp.

It also has a aftermarket ECU.......
