Auto to Manual transmission swap on 87 honda accord - Click HERE for Original Thread

Kev-Bo
what would i need to do to a 87 accord to make it stick??

and can the throttle regulator (thing that dosent let you punch the gas) can this be removed and the throttle line run right to the intake??

THUD
So far SEX,HONDA,THROTTLE I have understood...Other than that I can only guess that you want the car to go faster or you have a sticky throttle.
Please clearify your post or ask for it to be deleted

Kev-Bo
ok I Want to make an Automatic into a standard .....
what would i have to replace to get this done....

and the throttle regulator i want taken off and the throttle cable hooked up to the intake manifold so when i punch it it dosent go thru the regulator then to the intake manafold because that makes it seem like your olny pushing the pettal down slowly

newaccorddriver
ive done it before and its easy as hell.

you need the pedals, tranny, drivers side axle, clutch cable, clutch, flywheel, shift linkage and rear tranny mount with the tranny.

as for the regulator for the pedal, there is none

THUD
Ok well lets start off with engine/car type, eather you have the carbed version or the PGM-FI.
A20A1 -2.0Lt 12v SOHC 2bbl carb 1955cc 98hp@5500rpm 109tq@3500rpm 87 accord dx/Lx
A20A3 2.0Lt 12v SOHC PGM-FI 1955cc 120hp@5500rpm 114tq@4500rpm 87 accord Lx-i
As for a throttle regulator...do you mean as a govenor or as in a rev limiter/ top speed or top RPM's.
Or do you mean the old trick of removing all the emmision's shit like you would to a old V8 to gain a few HP?
As for the tranny, get a 5sp tranny and starter and possabley tranny mounts, shift liknkages and shifter, couple bolts to block off the tranny cooler.
Be prepared for a bit of cutting and drilling to mount the shifter ummmm bit of wire's&soldering for the park/brake engage switch (gotta push brake in to get it outta park switch effects starter thinks it's in gear after swap).

As for a throttle body swap, thats basicly installing the whole PGM-FI and that may requier about 2 work day's of wireing...bit of a hassle but if you know wire's go for it.
There be more to it but thats what I got for now

I have no idea what you mean by actuator and the way it is set up is the way it is...there is no moving your throttle cable, but if you have cruise control you might be confuzzed by the large round ball thingy that has a cable that hooks to your throttle.

Kev-Bo
ill post pics of it and a page out of the haynes book

the guy that wants it done is doing it on a civic. the original poster is doing it on an accord.

isnt the only different between those 2 trannys just the final drive?

Well I have done it on this car before there is a how-to on the link newaccorddriver posted. If you want to know anything about the 3rd gen accord 86-89 follow that link. I know more about this car then anybody you will probily ever meet so you can pm me any questions you have about the car. Newaccorddriver knows his fair share about the car aswell.

i only know as much as ive done, and ive ripped through just about every part of the car. their built pretty solid if you have a manual to start with, but the autos are indeed junk. i suggest gathering every part before you start anything cause you would be missing alot of parts if you started before you get the parts

Kev-Bo
is any of this about my question or did my thread get jacked?

newaccorddriver and myself and I think shady are all talking about your question. We all have some experience with the A20 go on www.3geez.com and there is a how-to on your car for the swap. I have one I'm building.
