How do I install an aftermarket gas pedal? Sparco - Click HERE for Original Thread

Battle*Axe
ok i bet nobody knows this... but i gotta take the gas pedal off my neon without breaking it... so i can drill the SPARCO pedal into it.

the clutch and break are metal and connected to the arm so i just drilled it into the metal.

the gas however has a metal arm... but the pedal itself is plastic (so it can flex)
i need to take it off so i can cut it down because its like 1 1/2 inches longer then my SPARCO one.

but i dont wanna wreck it.

might as well try and ask if anybody knows... if not i guess i'll go ask a mechanic or some shit...

I would guess you remove the bolts holding the pedal assembly to the firewall, disconnect the cable and have at her.

Battle*Axe
remove the entire arm?? :)

Thegnome
I presume so...I dont know, look under there and see if its all one piece. On my car and most I have noticed. The pedal with the rubber padding on it and the arm are one piece. So unless yours come apart :dunno: Your guess is as good as mine.
I mean in all reality, if you have fought with it for this long. It's probably just as easy to take the cable off and just unbolt the whole arm.

If you're still confused though. Go to canadian tire and buy a haynes manual for your car and check it out. They're only twenty bucks. TRUST ME!! You'll eventually use it more than the book was origionally worth as garaunteed pedals lead to adjustments. Then to the shifter, then to the steering wheel...then intake, then exhaust...then you're broke.

lol... i already have a fully SRT-4 swapped 96 Neon and trust me i'm broke

i have a manuel somewhere in my house but i can't find it.

and yeah its not all one arm like the clutch and break :( they had the rubber pieces i took off.

its a stupid plastic piece on a pin swivel... but i don't wanna break the pin and it wont seem to just pop out.

maybe i'll have to eventually just pull the whole arm out. shouldn't be too hard i have to put a new clutch in like next week anyways.

the cable is really easy to unhook...

it gets easier if you disconect it from the tb first too

then you'll see that you can basically pull off the little black retainer by spreading the two retaining pins and sliding the cable out.

and the petal just bolts to the firewall

i recomend to go to a wrecker and practice first. that way you know what you're doing..

good luck:thumbup:
