| all i can say is keep trying i've been dropping off resumes at 20+ places weekly for the past 2 months now with no luck, I talked to the electrical brotherhood and they have around 200 first year electricians with no work at all. Its pretty backed up right now... no one wants to train all they want are journeymen. Best bet would to sign up for the PACT course at the electrical brotherhood union or to take the pre electrician course at nait which would give you an edge. |

| i know for a fact that my work place is hiring more eletricians and all departments are hiring cause we're all short on workers. apply at PTI travo modular structures. i applied there as an eletrician, but iput me in sheet metal instead(best decision of my life), but if you insist on working on eletrical, they wont hesitate to put you in there cause their short handed |

| I called that place and they said they weren't hiring. Does anyone know anymore companies who wouldn't mind hiring a starter? |

You called? That's no good.
Most places never "need" a 1st year apprentice. I mean, you contribute nothing for the longest time while you just learn. If anything, you hamper them by slowing down the guy who's training you. Ok, so maybe you don't hamper, but you get my point.
If you want an electrician job, you have to go down in person. That's why I've given up on it. I can't afford to take ANY days off work. But you go down in person, they like what they say, pass on your resume, they decide they COULD maybe use some random guy to just run wires and wire up boxes and stuff, and since they like your resume and your personality, they call you in for an interview.
Don't fax or e-mail. E-mail is too impersonal, and I'm sure you've seen what fax paper comes out as. Go down to places and drop off resumes. It's the only way.
By the way, that's what I was told by the only 4 places I visited who said they hired apprentices. Everyone said either they didn't or they hired from the union hall. |

Hey did it mention any company names? or phone numbers? I am not in Edmonton at the moment, and don't have access to that paper. I looked on their website, and didn't find those 3 ads. Thanks,
