LF a B-day resturant - Click HERE for Original Thread

BananaBoy
I looking for a somewhere to have a birthday dinner for my Wifey. We'll have 6-8 people at the resturant and then a few more at our place for cake later.

I'm looking for something a bit more interactive that the normal western sit down and eat our own plates type meal. We have a lot of Chinese and Viet food so I'm avoiding that too.

My fall back plans are the Ethiopian place on the east end of Whyte or the New Asian Village (east Indian).

Any other sugestions? Favorite places to eat? Something with a small private room would be nice. Thanks.

La Rounde(sp?) is pretty cool, but it is hte normal sit down type of palce, the whole place rotates on the top of the chatu lacomb hotel... yess me cin't speel werth a dam

Lagano Skies is the Ethiopian place. Really good food

No forks though you eat with your hands by picking stuff up with the spongy bread.

We head to LaRonge once a while for desserts, drinks a the view. BTW, if you can get in on canada day night, it's the best place to watch the fire works, they look so close, you can almost reach out and touch them.

I've hear really mixed reviews of Jap Village. I main one being it way to expensive because it's that only place in town. What do you think?

Lagano Skies, thanks for reminding me for the name. And I love the spungy bread stuff too.

Its not cheap, but its not crazy expencive, theres another place in town that does it to, i think its called shogun on the west end of jasper ave i think.

I have gone there for 2 birthdays so far and have yet to be let down

I second Japanese Village, I'm addicted to the food there and usually go every couple of weeks.

Khazahna's (sp?) is great authentic tandoorie cuisine, New Asian VIllage is good too, Tropica for spicey Malay food.

I wasn't too fond of LaRonde, plus if you sit inside facing outwards, you'll get motion sickness :)

x3.

They make the food right in front of you, pretty damn good food too. If you go on Sunday, you get a magic show too.

if you go to jap village you have to make shrue you go for where they cook in front of you

Syrtaki Greek Island Restaurant, amazing place. Just ask for the party platters and your good to go.

I love Greek food but she hates it. (Sorry Greeks, no offence) I think it has something to do with her not liking bell peppers, grape leaves, olives or feta

I'll toss in another reco for Jap Village. If you enjoy sushi at all, definately get the tuna tataki for an appitizer. It's not on the menu, but if you ask for it, it's very worth it.

I don't know why evryone likes Japanese village so much.

There is much better food for more reasonable prices elsewhere.

:dunno:

I enjoy the atmosphere there too. I agree that there is far better food for the price, but with a group of friends it's always a blast.

I was thinking about birthday dinners, and was wondering, who else really wishes that Bullwinkles was still around. I have nothing but good memories of that place.

Heh yeah, the Part source that's there is no where near as fun.

We do have chucky cheese..... but it's not the same.

Bullwinkles rocked. To relive childhood memories I had my 17th birthday there. I think it was right before the place shutdown. Half the machines were out of order or in need of new paint. Was really sad. Guess you can't go back :(

Last year we had a moving away party for a friend at Chuky Cheese. It was Hilarious. We spent about $120 on games to get those little tickets so we could get him a lava lamp.
