The last detailing job and into storage she goes...Acura NSX - Click HERE for Original Thread

95EagleAWD
Said goodbye to the NSX today.

She's staying at my parent's house for the winter. So after SCC, I've spent the last two days washing, claying and waxing her. It's without doubt the cleanest the car's ever been, and it's almost a shame not to drive it.

This good two day undertaking just reinforced how much I hate washing cars, though. Especially when it's cold out...

Some last pictures.

My brother's Tercel in the taillights.

Neighbours house in the rear fender.

Jammed in there. Not to move again till April. :tear:

It actually sucks leaving this behind... I'm so pumped to get my my VR4, it's not even funny.

bigmack000
stop being a pussy :P now work more over time and get a TT kit for that beast !

Inzane
Don't forget to throw a car cover on there.

I'm actually surprised so many people seem to be storing their cars this early lately. I figure we've got a least 2-3 more weeks of driving left.
:dunno:

Cover's on... don't worry.

It's a matter of convenience that I'm leaving it here. I don't need to make a trip to Calgary in the snow with the thing.

And I'm sure as hell not claying/waxing it again...

McFly
Damn Ryan he did a really nice job:)

elvis

baker_jeff

claying is using a claybar to remove tar/contaminates from the paint.

D'oh! I didn't notice that you were storing it in Calgary, rather than here.

I just store mine in my garage, but we have to leave one of our DD's outside during winter, so my wife & I take turns with the other garage stall.

But by this time next year I'll have a triple garage, so no more of THAT nonsense!! :D

He?

That was my 2 days of work. I decided against getting it done by someone else, since that was 350 bucks that I didn't want to spend.

McFly
well then damn you did one hell of a job.

I only have a one-car garage, so it's better to store it there in Calgary, than leave the car I'll be driving all winter on the driveway.

I'll visit.

Damien; thanks. Never used a claybar before and I'm pleased at the way it turned out.

midnite
the car looks great

I'd drive it in the winter, I hear mid engine/rear drive is the best way to go when snow flies. Just take it on down to Canadian Tire and get some Motomaster Z-rated snow tires slapped on :dunno:

Thought about it.

It's not an MR2 though... if it gets hit, it has to be shipped to Vancouver so someone who knows how to deal with alumnium can work on it.

Not worth the risk, IMO, and I get a sweet winter car out of the deal.

Smart man!

I wouldn't winter drive an NSX either. (Its made it this long in such nice shape. Why ruin it now?)

fugumerkur
Damn that thing is sexy! Sucks we get winter damn near 6 months out of the year! Time for a nice hot red snowmobile with louvres on the front and some z rated tread!!!! LOL:lol:

LeadSled
I was just kidding man. Looks like you did a hell of a detailing job, it looks great :)

I vouch for the clay treatment too, if you've got the patience and make sure you knead the clay often it can really work wonders. I might also try the Zaino system, its a little pricey but I've heard a lot of guys rave about the stuff.

And the VR4 should be stellar winter car.

Godzilla
wanna clay bar my car before i put it into storage????????????:D

Wookey
The car looks amazing, Ryan. Great Job. I can't wait to see the VR4. should be sweet:thumbup:

Savage
holy crap that's nice. i wish i could afford a winter beater and the winter upgrades.

I figured you didn't want to come to Calgary, Pavel. :p

It wasn't all that hard to do... just a lot of time. I'm lucky the car has some great paint on it to start with.

Looks good Ryan, when you take it out next spring we'll have to do the Banff - Jasper drive again, maybe get a couple more NSX's (or S2k's) to join.

Maybe a drive out to Lloyd and into northern Saskatchewan.

I've heard it's nice up there.
