| Kenwood amp running really hot - Click HERE for Original Thread |

I recently got a new deck for my truck to replace a stolen one. I'm noticing that this new deck is causing the Kenwood 250w amp (running a sony 10" sub) to get really hot after some regular/extended drives.
I drove back from BC today (13 hours of driving) and the amp seemed to cut out intermittenly. It wasn't a sudden stop of the sub from working, but it seemed to fade out, then a couple minutes later to fade back in.
The remote wire from the head unit is marked at being Max 0.3A. Do I have to fiddle with any of the adjuster things on the amp to match it up with this new deck? Do amps normally run really hot? This one was so hot after the long drive today that I could only hold my hand on for like 1-2 seconds before the heat got too much.
Any help is appreciated!

My guess would be that you have the sub wired wrong. The remote wire is just an indicator really and as long as it has some power, it'll turn on your amp.
Check your wiring and make sure you haven't screwed that up. The only way the amp should overheat is if the fan is busted or it's working a lot harder than it's designed to.
Resistance of your amp and sub? |

I suspect this is the source of your problems. We need specs on your sub, amp, and pictures of how you've wired it.
Another problem may be bad grounding. |

| Also possible the gain is incorrectly set for your new head unit. |

| does it seem louder now that you have the new head-unit, or sound different in any way having to do with the sub? |
