looking to spend around a grand ( maybe more if somone convinces me its worth it)
now im a total newb when it comes to anything that has to do with car stereo.. and I would also have no idea how to wire it up
if somone is willing to help me there would be a case of beer in it ( maybe more) for them
i live in st. albert but would be willing to drive anywhere in the edmonton area to get it done
a little hesitant to go to a shop.. just dont know anyone yet |

My first tip is to make a goal of what type of sound/performance you want:
- Sound quality, loudness, or both?
- How much space are you willing to sacrifice?
- what type of music do you listen to?
My second tip would be to buy my amp, as it will smoke anything you can buy in a store for the same price ;):

for $1000, I would roughly budget:
$100 - wires/accessories/food for your buddy installer
$350 - amplifier
$250 - custom made box
$300 - subwoofer(s)
I personally recommend buying one higher quality 12" subwoofer than buying two lower quality subs.
You might also look at premade box/sub combo like this:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_...amp;prod_id=314
or this:
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...1019&catid=
(for example. I'm not recommending either of those boxes, just showing you what is out there for pre-made stuff)
The used market is good as used gear isn't worth too much. I'd probably stay away from used subwoofers as they've often been abused and you can't really test them. Subs already built into a box are ok, since you can test them out and the resale on a box is garbage. Amps, just test them out and make sure they work, and you're good to go.

| If you go somewhere and get a package including amp/sub and box you can usually get it for alot cheaper. Your best bet is to shop around and listen to some setups to see what fits you. I would recomend you get a new deck cause it will sound alot better in the end. |

for a decent setup, i would be looking around the $2000 mark instead of the $1000.
I spent almost a grand on my amp alone.. And decent new subs are going to be 500+ a piece. Depending on Size and Name ofcoarse.
Maybe look at a used set?
And if your keeping your factory deck, just install the system yourself. Your probably going to tap into your rear speakers if your not running a new deck.. So its just a matter of a power wire, and a ground which any moron can do. |

But to be fair I have seen more than my fair share of morons that showed up to my shop after failing at this simple task. As for what you wanna get, hit some shops and listen to some gear, but if you want something that sounds good to you and not nessasarily something you want all the nieghbors to hear, mabye look at a single 12 and a good amp for your set up. |

You probably bought it from karbz, thats the only place ive seen em sold, and yea, theyre CRAZY, i coulda told you that before hand. They also sell Swiss Audio, which IMO is AWSOME sound. Your Stock TSX speakers im sure will be enough, because your not looking to spend over a grand. So, like me, you will have a sub for awsome bass, an amp that will AT LEAST power half of the subs max capacity( still decent bass even though your not pounding the shit out of it) and your stock speakers, that when you tune them properly, you will find that spending another 500 bucks on some 6 1/2 speakers really doesnt gve you 500 bucks worth of a difference.
Your still going to have a sweet system, the sub pounds. |

| Seen the Fusion stuff at SCN a couple years ago.. looks like decent stuff. Just probably cant keep up with the supply and demand of the local stereo shops.. aka A&B, Futureshop, visions etc. |
