So I just came back from my trip to germany and poland - what a blast. I am totally in love with euro cars, they look much better in a real life than in the magazines :D. Turns out, Canada is not the only country with some racing problems LOL

Happened to brought some goodies back for my Kadett GSI replica and the car should be on the road in abouts two weeks time. After having horrible last year in terms of parts delays and the engine running like sh*t, I think I sorted everything out this time - will check on May 18th and then again a month later when the new gearbox arrives from europe.

meh beggers can't be choosers.

GsiTurbo.. what's the SCC scene like there. What about the racing scene? Anything they specifiaclly soup up? Any more money there then here? Just curious cause I wanna go to Europe :D

well, the racing scene is very advanced in germany. From what I have seen, the largest segment is styling/suspension work, which is rather differnet than here - I havent seen a single german/french/italian car with a large japanese style front bumpers or mutliple wings, altough aluminium wings seems to be quite popular as well. Cars seem to be very clean. The cars are not so low, as they are often parked on the sidewalks and you need that clearence to go over the curb (unless you use paid parking - then thats another story). Also, as a result, ppl seem not to be using wheels larger than 16", and if so, they are "dish" style with plently of rubber left for sidewalk-parking challenges (especially in germany).

Performance wise, generally cars have smaller displacemet engines, but most of them are 16V and love to rev. Keep in mind the car insurance premium is based on engine displacement and in many cases horsepower (I might be wrong on the bhp part). Also modded cars do have higher premiums - so the overall effect is mostly based on the finance. Some people I spoke with remove all "power enhancements" before the yearly check for the insurance purposes. Also, gas is $1.30/l for regular (94 octane), going to $1.60 for premium (98 or 99 octane).

Overall, I totally recommend if you want to go - its all worth it, not only for cars which are awesome, but also for the roads, architecture and the ladies
