UFC's here this Saturday, andybody watching? It should suck, er.. I mean be great! I can't believe the UFC puts on such shit cards and people still pay, but whateva! It's MMA!

Here is the televised card:
Rich Franklin Vs. Anderson Silva
Sean Sherk Vs. Kenny Florian
Jon Fitch Vs. Kuniyoshi Hironaka
Cheick Kongo Vs. Carmelo Marrero
Spencer Fisher Vs. Dan Lauzon

Know I know you're probably thinking "Rich will kill that scrub, never heard of him", but I'm telling you:

Anderson is a legitamate bad ass. It will be a good fight. I don't know who to pick, but I'd have to give the slight edge to Rich.

Here is small clip of Anderson for you naysayers:

Booya!

My Picks: Franklin, Sherk, Fitch, Kongo, Fisher.

Damn, that was easy. I picked everyone who the UFC listed as the first name on their fight card. Coincidence?... I should say that I want all of my "losers" to win but for Marrero, cause I like Kongo.

Post your pics for the 5 televised fights and we'll see who comes out on top.

I'll probably go to the bar to watch it but it kills me to pay money just to see Franklin and Anderson Silva.

My picks line up with yours Insomniac.

You talking to me? :D

I can't see things happening differently from what you called it, but I think Anderson may take it.

More badassery by the Spider: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?do...=anderson+silva

You know Wandy's gonna be training him hard for this matchup.

I'll head out again for this one. UFC 63 turned out MUCH better than I thought it would, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one too.

As for picks:

Silva (tough choice, I like Franklin, but I just see Silva pulling this one off)
Sherk for sure
Hironaka
Kongo (I really hope this guy goes far in the [relatively] weak HW division)
Fisher

Wow. Looking at it again, that's a pretty sad card. Franklin's a champ, but not so much of a headliner for an event. Sherk should be pretty dominant.

Ah well, hopefully its good. You guys know of a bar/pub that's playing it free? or am I gonna have to pay $10 no matter where I go...

Silva's striking is so bad ass. Unfortunately I think Ace will win. He'll use his size and strength to take it to the ground.

BlueTurboEGG
I wouldn't underestimate Silva's ground game.

He's very good off his back and will pull guard if he thinks he might be going down.

I've seen him throw accurate elbows from guard, pull a body triangle from guard and from there, reverse the position to a full mount body triangle and G n P his opponent out.

Franklin has the size advantage not sure about who has a better reach advantage though. This will not be a one sided vitory for anyone.

Rich will get his chin tested and this will be a good scrap :)

Im hoping Silva takes out the golden boy, but its gonna be one hell of a war. As for Sherk/florian I think Sherk should take this one fairly easy.

I don't think so, I think kenny as a chance. He was pretty good in his last few fights...

elrhyso
i'm on the same page as the people that think anderson silva might take this one... franklin hasn't really had a challenge in a while ( i mean, come on.. nate quarry, even tanner, SHAMROCK?) and sherk is gonna roll florian, he's twice as built and the same weight :D

are there any bars playing the fight tonite

I'll be at the Canadian Brewhouse. Alone. My lame-ass roommates are going to see some whale movie at the science center IMAX.

wow... silva. did not disapoint at all... i expected it, but was still in shock to see franklin lose after 3 years.

time for a new champ to rule the middle weight.

and sherk put on a good show i think too, cant complain about the new lightweight champ...

other then that the rest of the card was rather weak over all.

BlueTurboEGG
WOOOOO!, the first sign of the changing of the guard in the UFC.

Agreed. The two title bouts were pretty killer, but the rest of the card was pretty lackluster. Franklin's nose was f'd up, which is kind of ironic because on the pre-show hype on Spike TV not two hours before the match, Joe Rogan went on about how Franklin was a good ambassador to the sport because he was a 'good looking guy whose nose isn't broken and making a crazy right turn towards his eye" (or something like that)

With Kongo's loss, I guess the UFC will just have to find some other fighter to groom for a HW title fight.
