Search for Hiren's Boot CD, it has almost every utility you will ever need on it.

You could use file scavenger too. Even the RCMP use it for data recovery before moving on to more destructive methods.

system mechanic 6 seemed to do a pretty thorogh job, even if you never use all the other utilities that it comes with.

my hubby just reistalled windows on his C: and accidentally wiped out the partitions on his D: during the guided partitioning section of the windows install (he just had double eye surgery so he couldnt see what he was doing) anyway we had to get those partitions back because all of his media (think 400gb drive full of mp3's) was on that drive.

well, a techie-guru friend of ours suggested this neat app called GetDataBack. i know, sounds dumb but it really worked very well.

I use that one, sometimes you loose folder and file names, but I find it 70% successfull at getting data back.
