when i drive my lude the steering wheel use to swirve left to right when i drive over the grooves in the road and i got it inspected and fixed they said my tie rod ends were loose.
and now the swirving is back should i buy new tie end rods or did anyone else go thru this problem or know the solution

newaccorddriver
if its swirving left and right because of the tie rod ends being loose, you should replace them. the nut holding it on has a cotter pin in there to prevent it from loosening, so theres definetely a problem there. their cheap, and they might be worrn out or starting to go anyways

ludes tend to pull to once side slightly even with a perfect alignment. at least mine did. i can't see a tie-rod end getting loose  they do wear though, and if you replace them yourself they are cheap and a few hours of time. you could always take it in for a alignment and they will go over all your steering components.

SRVboy
do you guys know a place that would specialize on preludes or do good quality work because i've paid a quiet a bit of money just for them to find the problem and to tighten the tie rod ends at napa auto pro ($400). when they did my steering was tight and now its starting to swirve.....how much are tie rod ends anyways?

SRVboy
and is there a specific brand that would be the best quality.

fartcannon
yah my lude used to do that and then i had the tie rods all done at honda. I acutally had a 5000 dollar repair done to my car replacing all the bearing, cvboots, tierods, etc. so many things that the car is pretty much new. hahaha But yah probably the same problem you had before

SRVboy
when do you know to fix the bearings and cvboots and all the goodies that effect the steering?

lovinthespeed
ya want it done good and cheap my lude just put winter tires on form costco they did a great anlinement and i run straight now and very pleased with it and cheap to.

Honestly i had no clue, your suppose to have them checked every 40000km or something, its in your service manual. I was pretty pissed when i took it to honda acutally. i did not intend to spend that much money but i decided if i wanted it to feel like a new car i would invest some money. The car had its entire suspension redone and much more so its one of the smoothest rides i have ever drove due to the repair, the rims width, and all my aftermarket suspension stuff. I would recommend looking at your service manual in the gloove box and check your kms and compare. Dont cheap out whatever you do in this department. You do not want a tie rod to snap while driving. You will go into a wall or worse if your on the freeway your going to cause one huge accident.

fartcannon
haha thanks, im trying to keep some convo going. Not many people are talking that much so im doing whatever i can lol. When do i get my little prelude club package tyler if you read this? is it just the member card?

SRVboy
i actually don't have a manual it never came with the car when i bought it. cold you let me know when is recommended to change suspension or anythin that has to do with alignment

SRVboy
PS do you guys know anyone that would like to buy an injen cold air intake for a 92-01 want it gone its mint condition

newaccorddriver
there is no set time to change out the suspension parts. its all due to driving conditions. and you replace them when their worn out

fartcannon
i agree with ^ thats why i had honda check it out. But imo i would get a few quotes from other places and see what parts they recommend. honda ripped me off on some parts that did not need to acutally be replaced but it was already such a high tally in part cost that i just decided to let them. Soon enough those parts would have to be replaced in the near future so i just let them replace them and i got free labour which is always nice. One of my favorite replacements was the bearings. I suggest everyone does this. It makes the car run much smoother, im pretty sure it accelerated better, and when i put it in neutral i can drift along for a really really long time at a constant speed. Its a very nice feeling

SRVboy
how much is it to replace the bearings labour and part?

fartcannon
ummm honestly i cant tell you. like i said i have to get the receipts. Thats a whole different story ill tell the whole club about it sometime its acutally a jerry springer style story that is almost so unbelievable you guys will be in complete shock. But i will try and get my honda receipt back from the police hahaha thats just hints at how crazy this story is. I dont think it was that much just the labour is what killed. if you do replace your bearings i would suggest doing the cv boots, tie rods etc. just do a nice suspension tune up you will not regret. You dont have to go as hardcore as i did.
