Hi!

What are you trying to install? Front? Rear?

Rear....

OK, depends on the year. I'll start with the worst case scenario, which is a 924 that came from the factory with no rear sway-bar, and no rear sway-bar mounts on the torsion bar housing (same situation as mine).

You'll need from a 944:

1. the rear sway-bar

2. the removable portion of the mounting brackets that hold the bushings to the torsion bar housing

3. the bushings

4. the "dog-bone" drop links and bolts

5. the exteneded eccentric adjusting bolts that hold the sway-bar to the trailing arms.

All can be seen below:

Now you'll need 2 very solid 3.5 inch guillotine clamps to go around the torsion bar housings. I got mine at Bumper-to-Bumper for a few bucks each. You can then mount the sway-bar to the torsion bar housings using these clamps:

This is the most common way to mount a rear sway-bar to a non-equipped 924. Weltmeister even makes a kit to do it, but you are basically paying $200 US for a couple of 3.5 inch clamps. The nice thing about a 924 without a rear sway-bar (at least from 1980 on) is that Porsche installed thicker torsion bars in these cars. Thus, when you do install a rear sway-bar you get a nice stiff rear, which can then take heavier (220 - 250 lbs) springs up front.

In any case, if the pictures and explanation above don't help, drop me an email at chrenan at shaw.ca and we can connect by phone or I can come out and give a hand.
