GDL driver got pulled over, speeding & racing: lowest fine/demerit solution? - Click HERE for Original Thread

elvis
ok so yesterday at 3 am, i was speeding on wayne gretkzy, and another car decided to follow me and we kind of started racing... very stupid mistake, anyway so out of the blue a cop car stops right infront of me with his lights on pulls us both over and gives us both 2 tickets, 1 for speeding he said that he clocked us at 160km/h and the limit there is 80km/h, and i got a court date for that ticket, and i got a nother ticket which is $402 for "racing on highway"

I was wondering whats gona happend to me if i just pleed guilty to both of those tickets, i am a GDL driver so i can have 8 demerits, and i got 12 that night so how long would they suspoend my licence? and how much would the speeding ticket approximately be? Or should i pleed not guilty and fight the speeding and the racing ticket?? if i did this what could i say?

Uhh

I think either way license will be suspended for a month I believe. You will probably have to do a defensive driving course. If you do you get 3 points back.

I dunno man thats a mess.

Good luck

elvis
so, is it 100% a ONE month suspension or is it going to be more?

lovinthespeed
no it is minimuim 1 month and your speeding ticket is probly at least 400

elvis
ok, so who decides how long its gona get suspended for?

lovinthespeed
the judge if your some punk kid he will give it longer but go in there dressed nice and hair done and dont smell us nice words adn big words sound smart and he will be nicier i know from past be super nice nd apperance is everything

elvis
yah my friend allready told me that, i'll dress in like a suit and everything formal, i can handle a 1 month suspension and i dont really care how much the ticket is, as long as the suspension is 1 month and not longer i will be more than pleased, what is the judge gona tell me, is he gona ask me anyhting?

lovinthespeed
ya he will wanna know the story so tell it to him the truth dont lie they took 8 years or more of schooling basically to tell if people lie so be honest nice and formal use big words makes sound smart and if you are smart in school or good at sports bring proff it may help on how long suspension is

Momentum
LOL...

The guy you were racing posted a thread about it on nexopia.com

http://www.nexopia.com/forumviewthread.php?tid=3097060

dc5spoon
lawyer up

STiPWR
talk to ernie auch you'll get off on the streetracing ticket... get like stunting as a passenger or something. Possibly break down the speeding ticket as well.. look him up in the phone book.. costs 300 a ticket though.

Dont plead guilty cause you'll be fucked and your insurance will skyrocket.

TrevorK
Perhaps you should show up to court and honestly tell the judge your side of the story. Take responsible for your actions, it's the only way you're going to learn.

fartcannon
HAHAHAHA momentum i like how you brought the two of them together. hahaha good job

So who was REALLY winning

lovinthespeed
ya mna thats nice and are you guys really that dumb on cop car gets 2 cars come on boys grow balls

CharLiee
i did 73 over in a 60 zone..and i got off with a huge ticket but no suspension. Im paying laot for my lawyer n fines but anything is better then loosing my license for 3 months-1 year, get a lawyer and hope for the best. was ur charge criminal or just traffic? that matters too if your getting a lawyer.

elvis
it was traffic, he didnt give me criminal cahrgers ahaha wtf thx for who ever found the guy i was racing cause i actually wanted to get his phone number except i forgot

silvermist
I'd say you are lucky if you don't get a year of suspention because even with a defensive driving course you will still have 8 demerits and demerits last for a year before coming off your record. my advise......... slow the f down adn don't race on the streets. and your insurance is mostlikly going to go up so be prepared for a 25-50% jump on your insurance, if you are lucky your insurace company could just pull your insurance if you are unlucky.

I would recommend, leaving the country all together, fostering a new identity in Ghana and immigrating back to Canada on the premise that you're a refugee seeking political asylum from the reaches of the Taliban. Make sure you speak with a heavy accent in broken english.

elvis
is this like the worst thing anyone has ever done on 780??....

trust me when I say no.

No. I was just being sarcastic. There was a guy that posted some story about his criminal ways and he pretty much got an earful from the 780 members...it's an old thread, but it was fucking funny.

Don't worry, you're just young and in that "learning" phase. Just take these situations with a grain of salt. You don't have and won't get a criminal record out of this, so you can still travel freely, and get "security sensitive" jobs, so you're no lesser of a person. Sure you have a lead foot, but that's a chronic problem that plagues many of us, including myself. Just be careful out there.

That was my first 2 months driving.. since then i've had my license suspended 3 times... pretty much had a ticket for everything under the sun.

but almost 2years clean now:thumbup:

thx man at least i get some respect :)[

Crisis`
yeah so i'm the dumbass he was racing against.

i've got a bit of it figured out so far, but i'm wondering what your guyses opinion is on points or whatever. (the people you pay to to handle your shit) i'll be talking to them soon anyway, but i just want some opinions. thanks.

lovinthespeed
read above man read above and you goofs get together and make up a good story lol

elvis
is the judge gona bring up that we were street racing, because the court date is specifically only for SPEEDING, and we have a seperate ticket for racing.

lovinthespeed
he will ask but say that is off topic but for your info if we were racing and only did 160 my car sucks and i should sell it get some humor in it calms it down

elvis
how is that funny.. lol... the judge is prolly gona think that 160 in an 80 zone is pretty fucking fast man dont u think??

elrhyso
LMAO hey i know the guy you were racing (kinda) he's my brothers friend... small world.

... good luck with the ticket, and learn a lesson from this: wayne gretzky is the last place you want to speed in edmonton :dunno:

elvis
i barelly ever see cops there, this one actually came from nowhere... i blinked and i saw a cop passing me with lights on... and in my head it was like... o shit,.. then i acutally realized how bad it was so i was like.. OOOOOOOOOOO SHIIITTTTT

That's kinda the idea.

IMO, pointts is a waste of money.

Incidently, you can't say "that's off topic", it's the exact topic. Are you or are you not a responsible driver? That's what the judge is trying to find out, and the degrees to which you are or aren't. Street racing would certainly fit into that category.

lovinthespeed
acutally i thought it was pretty funny 160 in a race damm mommys car is slow lol joke but you will be punished harsh nad insurance is ogign to rap you but gl

fartcannon
i say you guys need to get together get lawyers, get sit down with those lawyers together and all of you have a talk about this. Seriously that is what needs to be done. I was being charged with some criminal charges that i got with a friend. we were told not to contact each other for the year during trial. we did anyway so that our lawyers could talk to each other. if we didnt both our stories would have been all mixed up and we would have been fucked.

lovinthespeed
yup i am with fart

Britain
Dude. I think i've seen you ont he whitemud darting in and out of traffic like your hot shit.. I remember the gunmetal rims.. Learn to drive if it is you.. There's a brown guy in an rsx too who does that shit ALOT.

elvis
gun metal rsx, is that the brown guy?

Stan
lol elvis...

GL to ya buddie. ill talk 2 ya in school i might be able to help u out:)

elvis
ait man thx

mikeylikesit
pointts is and isnt a waste of money. the only good part about them is that he'll go sit in the room with the officer and the crown and figure out wut all they know (theres a word for it but i dont remember)

but basically when ur in court they'll ask u guilty or not guilty. if you say guilty then everyone states the facts and the judge will make a decision.
i'm not sure about demarits for both tickets.. but if you end up getting a suspension from the speeding ticket then you dont get demarits for it. and the racing one might be able to be reduced. just because of the fact that its hard to prove that it was an act of racing. when i got my tickets i could've got a racing ticket but he couldnt prove that it was an act of racing.
did u get a trial date for the tickets yet? if you wanna drag it out for longer then just wait until the date on the ticket to go to the courthouse then get a trial date.
(i'm bills friend that showed up when u guys got pulled over.. haha)

I got pulled over doing 170km/h in a 70km/h zone a few years ago (late for work). I used a traffic lawyer through "Tickets" and the guy got me off 100%. No fines no nothing.

P.S. For the Record, I don't do that shit anymore. I learned my lesson from that instance.

elvis
REAlly??? i hired someone from tickets 2 lets hope it goes as good as that :D

i say u guys dont talk to each other, get a lawyer and make the judge belive u guys were each doing ur own thing, and had nothing to do with each other. my 73km over the limit was let off because the judge belived me n the other guy had nothing to do with each other..
and if u guys sit down together the judge will belive you 2 are friends, and probaly be more harsher since he/she will think you guys were fucking around with each other.

dtjohnst
Maybe you were on your learners still? no driving between 0000-0500.

lovinthespeed
ya they changed it man it use to be and everyone still thinks it is but it is bull shit.

eg. its like in hockey a reff cant kik the fan out next time they try ask for the rule number. but most fans leave anyways thinking they can

That's correct. It was only when the GDL license came out, but then it was revised (likely after some MP's son/daughter got in trouble... )

At the moment the 12am cutoff is only for the class 7 drivers license (learners).

elvis
thats prolly why i got to drive home that night :) i was kind of confused why they let me but i guess it makes sense now

Update?

jaysas_63
i'm sure this has already been said, but never take an officers word for what he clocked u doing...ask to see the radar, and if he refuses to show you and still insists on giving u a ticket (probably won't happen) bring it up in court and u'll deffinately be in good shape

elvis

ok the update is that i hired a traffic lawyer from points, and he went to court for me for the speeding ticket and the cop never showed up so i got really really lucky on that ticket and that one is done, and the racing ticket my traffic lawyer is taking that to court and the date is on march 28 so its gona be a while for that one, but im still EXTREMLY happy that i got extremly lucky (i still learned my lesson tho, wont be doing that anymore)

P_D
points is the reason i still have my licence. I was young and dumb. 22 demerits in one night!

elvis
yah man, those guys save lives

yeah right I bet as soon as the snow is gone you'll be right back at it again. j/k

Who told you that? He may have clocked other cars after you. They don't store them all in memory. There is no requirement for them to show you, and I don't think it will matter in court anyways.

fartcannon
hahahahaha no it does not. A cop tried to pull that its after 12 shit on me and i said are you kidding. Im 19 read the book dumbass. hahaha with out the dumbass part. He checked it out because he did not believe me and then realized he was in the wrong. I pissed him off with that so he gave me a ticket for the white bulbs in my front fenders. lol

They arent really any good for city but on highways they are really good.

Dalray
from my experience biking, 80 km/hr over + is automatic court. they nail you for a 2400$ fine plus a suspension of 1- 3 months. as for the 402$ ticket they can give you that for anything. racing or stunting dont matter. Mr.Wibbly got a 402$ stunting ticket for saying here piggy piggy one night on whyte.,

as for anythign else like 280 in a 90 zone ya automatic jail time

Cant you get a ticket for driving without the will to live or endangering the lives of others at those speeds

No shit. 280 in a 90 is dangerous operation(no more than 5 years) and criminal negligence (no more than 5 years) under the criminal code. Not to mention several provincial statutes. Anyone caught doing anything that dumb should have they're licence revoked permanently and be restrictred from driving any vehicle at any time under any circumstances.

I had a guy say "here piggy piggy" to me once....he paid way more than $402 initially, and much more than that over the next several years.
