Is anyone running an OBD1 ecu in an OBD2b/2a car?
The cold starts are difficult (warm starts are okay, but not perfect). And the idle is a bit bouncy (will idle fine, drop to around 300 rpm and then revs back up before the car dies)
Has anyone experienced issues like this, or knows whats exactly going on? I have heard theories that it could be the IACV... |

try adjusting the manual bypass screw that's on the throttle body. IACV's get sticky at their edges, but you can shift where they run, to a better spot using the bypass screw. different ignition maps can cause a need for more or less air such as changing computers.
you might try changing the static ignition timing by turning the distributor, but do that last, if it's already set using a light then you don't really want to be changing it just to make it idle. |

| Well it seems as if it is the evap. purge valve that is different from an OBD1 to OBD2 car....they seem to run opposite which causes weird issues under 163F. |

Its true. My car was wired for OBD2A but I'm using an OBD1 computer with an OBD1 engine now (just did the necessary repinning on the engine side and used a conversion harness on the ecu side). Not exactly the same scenario, but I don't have any issues at all since the computer matches the engine. I'd try cleaning the idle air control valve like you said, and manually adjusting the idle screw a touch. What program are you running on the OBD1 ecu? You might have to also adjust the idle in the program (whatever you used, crome, uberdata etc) to raise the idle a touch... then again when the engine is cold it should be high-idling. What is your idle at when you start the engine cold? |

I'm going to remove all connections to the evap purge solenoid tonight and see how that works.
I am running CROME and my idle is about 1000-1200 at start and then rests at around 800. If this doesn't work I'll be cleaning the IACV although since I had no issues previous to the ECU change I'm hoping the evap solenoid is the root of my problems. |

Welcome to Hell... I'm in the process of doing this with an AUTO. They dont make auto conversion harnesses...
I have obd2 tranny too.. lol..Gl bro! |

| Another thing to note is which IACV / EACV are you running. Some EK's use a 3 wire, some use a 2. A computer meant for a 2 wire will never run a 3 wire.what engine do you have in ur car? what engine did it previously have? |
