helios vs mtec HID kit - Click HERE for Original Thread

aznpryde87
hey i am planing to buy a an aftermarket HID kit for my integra, does anyone have any opinion on which one to get between the 2 or if there are any other brands that someone recomends, has anyone tried these or any other brand, or had any problems, just looking for some opinions and help.

Never used either but I'll be the nag and state that unless 1, you have proper optics and 2 the ballasts have SAE markings they would illegal and potentially if you get a cranky cop your car could be impounded.

I've heard good reviews of the Mtecs though

oh i was talking to the salesperson and they recomended the helios. also i will be buying brand new oem headlight housings for both sides, so the optics should be good. i dont plan to retrofit any audi or bmw projectors in mine, they take too much work, im looking for just the plug and play. also does anyone know a good place to buy oem headlight housings, westside acura is like 500 for both(obviosly expensive because its the dealer). thanks

OEM optics are good for halogen bulbs not HID. If you stay in the 4000-4300K range hopefully the cops won't bug you.

I have 6000K(I asked for 5000K) in ECE's but mine are the hi/lo with a standard halogen "hi" so around traffic I use the halogen, and then the HID's are purely highway deer finders.

Almost any local shop will sell you either the MTEC or Helios HID kits because they all buy from the same 2 suppliers.

Price range you may have to do some haggling but your not gonna get too much knocked off MSRP unless you go to one shop that will remain un-named that likes to low-ball prices.

how much do these kits usually cost?

aznpryde87
$400-600.
