you really havn't given me enough info to help you.
Granted you got a ticket in the mail, obviously with a letter stating it was due in 2001.
I need to know a few things to help you,
What is the offence date on the top of the ticket?
What section and Act was it issued under?
Who issed it and what service do they work for?
What was or is the court date written on the ticket?
Answer these q's and i will try to help you.
Cheers |

So........did you receive a ticket during the summer of 2001? Does the paper give vehicle information to confirm it was your car? There's probably a phone number on it somewhere, call them up and ask them about it if you never got a ticket. |

Well........you see, if you get a ticket and don't pay it, they'll send you a notice asking you to pay it. So...........you got the letter because you need to pay it. |

Another question, what constitutes an enlarged exhaust opening. If i merely put a better looking muffler tip on my existing muffler am i going to be ticketed? This would be purely esthetic and have no effect on noise or emissions.
My understanding was if the exhaust coming into the muffler is smaller than the exhaust opening leaving the muffler. Am I right or wrong?
Thanks |

Wrong. There was a good post on the subject but the thread got deleted because some assclowns decided to flame in it.
The basic jist of it is that if you go buy your muffler, any muffler, and don't machine the hole coming out of it to be bigger, you're complying with the law. |

So inlet 2.25" outlet 4" is fine as long as i don't enlarge the existing outlet opening of the muffler.
Sounds about right the way i read that regulation.
Anyways i contacted my MLA for a detailed written explanation that i can now keep in the car. |

Someone will spot this and outline it for you.
Good luck with the MLA. They wouldn't know what laws meant if they wrote it themselves. |

| I agree but maybe i can get them to agree in writing to my interpretation. Handy little paper to pull out if EPS tries to ticket it. It seems like the law is written fairly vaguely. |

| Actually, it's very specific. Don't worry, someone with the whole writeup will read this and post it. You'll see, clear as mud. |

| an mla has ZERO pull or influence over law. the ONLY person who has the right to decide if your in the right or wrong is a Judge. A cop by writing you a ticket is only saying that they feel you have broken the law, and they give you the opportunity to see a judge if you feel you havent. a cop can interpret a law any way he wants to, as well as you can, but at the end of the day the only interpretation of that law comes from the judge. |

| Ya i know but the MLA is supposed to be responsible for the making of the law and should be able to give a little more information. Anyways if i should ever get a ticket i'll take it to court and see what happens. |
